I think people do understand the freeze response. Honestly they do. But saying you froze isn't going to acheive a conviction. Freezing implies the victim didn't say no verbally or put up any sort of physical struggle or reject the attention in any way. Didn't cry, gave the accused no hint she wasn't agreeable.
And while it may well be that she wasn't into it, the man only has to establish that he had reason to believe she consented. Not that she did consent, but that he reasonably believed she did. And he's going to claim that she...asked him to wear a condom, took her own pants off, took a shower beforehand, used her phone (but didn't alert anyone), was proactive, stayed overnight, made him a coffee after, arranged to see him again yada yada ...
It's really hard to evidence that he was aware she didn't consent.

This. And it has to be ongoing. Maybe she consented to oral sex—that doesn’t mean automatic consent to intercourse, and continuing whilst hoping she doesn’t say no.

Same for anal—consenting to intercourse doesn’t mean you have a go and hope she doesn’t say no.

Ensure that you have clear, enthusiastic consent. Not just a lack of a no/kicking/punching that someone upthread thinks we need to indicate a no.

What research or evidence do you have to support your comment where you say, that if a man forced himself on a woman and she was shouting, kicking, punching screaming, he would stop?

The comment was about people already having sex (quote from the trial) and then the woman says no to anal sex and the guy still tries it on, I said most women could put a stop to that and most men would stop at that point in my opinion, I don"t have links to PHD papers on the subject. The fact that the man in this case was a coked up muppet who thinks he is a 70"s rock star might make a difference I"m not sure, but for all his scary eye contact etc. a woman with even basic self defence moves could make his balls so sore he would stop, most men are not going to go full psycho they are going to just be embarrassed at that point.

From what I read she never had a chance to say no, she was having sex and then she was being anally raped, there was no asking in between. She was crying, begging him to stop and he didn’t, she was terrified. I don’t know if you’re trying to be argumentative or are just abit uneducated but it’s not surprising at all that she didn’t kick/punch/fight.
This reaction is very common. Have you ever seen a mouse freeze when a cat has caught it, it’s not that the mouse wants to be still, it’s a built in survival instinct, humans can react the same.
Im pretty sure it’s documented that women in this situation are more likely to be killed when they fight back.
