cloverleaf,

what evidence do you expect to come to light which will make everyone see Brand as innocent?

She hasn’t said she entertained him in a flirtatious way at all, they were talking about a project she was working on and as the bar was closing and she wanted to carry on the chat she invited him to her room. She thought it was safe as she believed he was gay. She went to the toilet and when she came out he’d stripped off and then raped her.
That I get is her word against his, but his friend has confirmed he told him.. We should get going, I took it to far with that girl last night. 5 other women all with consistent statements and similar stories.
Your probably right and it’ll be to hard to prove but I hope I’m wrong.
Someone said upthread that he has been talking about the trial on his YouTube channel yesterday, aren’t they told not to discuss anything on social media while the trial’s ongoing… Total disrespect for the law.

If he lives in the U.S and YouTube is registered "offshore" maybe they don"t have jurisdiction to stop him? Or maybe they know the case is a pile of nonsense and don"t really care?

The statement - "they were talking about a project she was working on and as the bar was closing and she wanted to carry on the chat she invited him to her room. She thought it was safe as she believed he was gay. " - will be laughed out of court, by that point his reputation as a revolving cock was well known, but if he did what is claimed then that is very bad predatory behaviour that needs punished, or will he just claim that she agreed/initiated sex? Did she report this at the time, how long ago did it happen? The problem with statements like "We were drunk in a hotel room 25 years ago and he raped me" is that he can just say "We were drunk in a hotel room 25 years ago and she jumped on top of me" No judge or jury is going to find him guilty.

mids2019 · 19/10/2026 17:50

Again the anal rape if you look at this in a cold hard way which the defence will do you have a woman consenting to sex who during a sexual encounter who was on all fours with the presumption of consent for vaginal sex(?) was then anally penetrated. Yes this could very well be rape but how do prove consent was not given for the anal penetrative and what actions did the woman take to indicate non consent for that form of sex. Again it feels like Brand is guilty on the balance of probabilities but I do think this trial is suffering from lack of evidence.

Tinydanceer · 19/10/2026 17:51

@KeepPumping he wasn’t famous then and was just starting out so no wasn’t known as the revolving cock- he want known at all

CPS must have evaluated whether they’d be successful

This really unfortunately. Even the sun is now reporting the rape in inverted commas. Maybe their journalists have a sense on how this is going? Could be wrong though

I thought it was face to face vaginal sex - then the anal rape after

god it’s awful isn’t it - how can his wife listen to all this and still want to be with him!

we haven’t heard any details yet, have we?

surely he should seek express permission with no room for any doubt before proceeding with that

KeepPumping · 19/10/2026 18:03

thebrowncatisback · 19/10/2026 15:34

what about the victim who had sex with him willingly but then he anally raped her afterwards?

how will they defend that? She consented but later regretted it ?

the man is abhorrent

his motives were not about having sex but were to control, demean, humiliate and cause pain

If you watch the documentary on the downfall of Ron Jeremy, he was on location doing a porn film where he was accused of raping a woman at night in her hotel room who he had to do an anal sex scene the next day with, she went through with the scene because she had signed a contract but told everyone on the set what he had done and made it "uncomfortable" for him during filming by forcing herself back on him while he was thrusting away, he had followed her from a beach where she was meeting her boyfriend (also a porn actor in the film) and RJ had allegedly followed her back from the beach, got into her room under the pretence of just chatting or whatever waited until she was coming out of the shower then raped her, doing the scene after being raped by him sounds odd and meeting the "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" after shagging 10 other people on camera that day sounds odd I think to most people, but as she said "rape is rape".

It’s bloody disgusting how defense lawyers are allowed to rip rape victims apart. I used to be friends with a man years ago in my twenties, he was very good looking and slept around a lot, I wasn’t his type and he wasn’t mine. Would I have been asking for it every time I went round his flat for a bottle of wine or to watch a movie or should we be able to trust in life that men can talk work projects without pinning us down and forcing sex. I think she said this was pre him being a household name. She didn’t report it at the time.

Once you are in bed with someone fucking, it is very hard to say I didn"t consent to this or that, unless you are black and blue with bruises and they have obviously forced you into something it just isn"t provable, most fit young women could kick and scratch or push a bloke off them, and most blokes would take the hint at this point, for it to go further at that point the bloke would need to be quite violent or have a weapon, or have the fear of future physical attack if they were living together as a psychological weapon.

thebrowncatisback · 19/10/2026 17:07

The attractive bit is irrelevant (and subjective) and she thought he was gay

Unfortunately it's not irrelevant as the defence will argue that she wanted sex with him because of it.

They will no doubt make much of his sex status image.

Most rape victims do not punch/kick/ try to get away, they freeze. And that is not there fault, it’s a survival instinct that we have little control over.
I said upthread I’ve been in this position and I’ve stood in a court room while the jury were shown photos taken by a doctor and the police of bruises in the shape of handprints around my arms, my neck, missing hair, footprints on my back, genital injuries far worse than after I gave birth and he was still found not guilty.
Women are completely fucked when it comes to cases like this and it’s disgusting. This happened to me 25 years ago and I was treated like a slag by the met police. It went to trial 2 years ago and I was treated like a slag by the defense, disgusting all of it.

I agree with you, no way to argue with that, the flip side of course is that men should be able to go up to a woman"s room to talk without being accused of rape, the defence will be looking for opportunistic accusers who are hoping to profit from the exposure of the case, they will be trying to prove that she just made this up so are not going to go easy on her. The problem with hotels, pubs etc. from back in the 90"s is how do they even prove he was there, there won"t be guest records or CCTV recordings?

It is awful agreed. If consent was given for the vaginal sex at what point does that consent fall for other activity? Do you have to actively and unambiguously remove consent as the anal penetration occurred? Would it still be rape if further vaginal sex occurred but in a different position? I just think using this kind of logic it becomes hard to see how the bar of beyond reasonable doubt can be reached especially with no witnesses,no physical evidence and a 20 year time gap.

mids2019 · 19/10/2026 18:27

It does sound like the defence are doing their job but it is brutal on the women and could get more so. I dont think there is an answer to this but the court reporting sadly shows how a skilled defence (big bucks from RB) can reduce alleged victims to tears. I get the impression some of these women are going to be traumatised by the cross questioning but I don't see hiw tou can avoid that in a court situation.

Through telling their story in the papers, through doing TV interviews, through getting a book published about the incident and their fight for justice, through having their online profile raised by being involved with the case etc. etc.

I think the consent is easy - most people would see it as needing separate consent - and she said no and struggled

but I agree - on the surface how are they going to prove it…

However it does happen - Grahame dot went to prison a few weeks ago for lewd behaviour and sexual abuse of minors 33 years ago

What do people feel about men on the jury? In theory all people should be completely objective about a crime independent of gender and in a sense it does seem perfectly fair to have a mixed jury. However with sexual crimes is there any argument for all female juries of the victim was female. The argument would be only women would fully understand the gravity of the crimes as they could empathise with the experience more? Also would women be perfectly happy in a jury room talking about intimate sexual matters with men in an anonymous jury room? If a male juror was obviously misogynist could that be called out? I feel a woman might not feel comfortable as a juror talking about anal rape and forced deep throating with essentially unknown men in a jury room and would worry about some sort of skew in the judicial process.

My mum served on a jury in a rape case, she was more horrified by some of the things other female jurors were saying than the men. It ended up NG by majority she and one other a man would not change their verdicts, plenty of others did "to get out of there". My mum feels quite haunted by that case because she strongly feels he was guilty and there was enough circumstantial evidence to support the victim's version of what happened and she kept coming back to why would she be putting herself through this, the cross examination etc 2 years after the incident took place.
I get that it's only one example but it wouldn't fill me with hope for all female juries. I have also worked professionally with women who sell sex and the way they are treated by other women is horrendous. You see it on here to an extent too, no one as hard on women as other women.

You're delusional.

How much money do you think people get for stuff like this?

A book published, really? Lets pretend this fantasy is real and a book is published, how much do you think people make from books these days?
