Apologies if there has already been a thread on this, but Lloyds TSB have been sending out debit cards to 11 year olds without informing their parents/guardians.

Article here.

We have just opened a bank account at Lloyds for my DD aged 13. If they send her anything other than a cash point card I will close the account. Our agreement is for a cashpoint only card.

A friend, the same age has a debit card that he can use in shops!

Apparently banks like to get young account holder because they are more likely to stay with the same bank for ever, well I wont be if they try that trick on with us!

The ones they've been sending out can be used online, so they could buy alcohol, cigarettes, 18 rated dvds/games etc. with great ease!
