Why did he become Knighted in the first place.

Was he a good person before?

Excuse my ignorance

Bridie3 · 25/06/2008 20:20

He was the Great White Hope (irony intended). Intelligent, hard-working, determined.

Caucescau also had one and they didn't take it away until the day before Romania decided to execute him. We don't have a great record on this kind of thing.

If you ask me (not that you were but as I'm posting anyway ...) Archer should have also been stripped of his - or anyone that got one as an honorary gesture and was subsequently found to be less than honourable

WendyWeber · 25/06/2008 20:29

He was a Great White Hope, yes - knighthood was in 1994 I think I read earlier & he's been in 200 years so that was still early days.

He will turn this round though as usual, the West is trying to destroy Zim through him

(Is he actually mad, do you suppose? Does he believe all his delusions?)

WendyWeber · 25/06/2008 20:29

er - that would be 20 years.

Mugabe used to be highly thought of, yes. Universities gave him honorary degrees, all that sort of thing.

spicemonster · 25/06/2008 20:51

I was wondering that WW. Not just him but all the members of his government. Was listening to one being interviewed yesterday and just couldn't believe that he honestly bought into all the deluded nonsense he was spouting. But then Hitler's generals believed him too - no telling how far some people will go if it bestows power and wealth on them ...

Someone on MN was talking about RM having syphilis (I think), which had affected his brain. Anyone else heard of this?
