League tables are very damaging IMO and should be abandoned.

My primary school is 5th out of 250 in our LEA league tables, and yet was placed in special measures after last OFSTED inspection.

Both forms of assesment, OFSTED and league tables, are sadly lacking imho.
Too narrow, only a small snapshot of a school, and never the full picture.
