Suffolk Strangler confession

I live in Ipswich & this story was huge. We were all terrified.

Those poor women.

I don't know how to put a link on, sorry.

It's an awful update but I hope that it brings some kind of peace? Closure? (I don't want to use the wrong word) To Victoria's family.

I live in Suffolk too, near where some of the victims were discovered. It was a very nervous time. I'm 'pleased' that he has admitted his guilt as the family needed it.

WitchesIpswich · 02/02/2026 12:28

Yes, Belladog1 it's a weird feeling isn't it. It's good, but sad too. I was 17/18 when Victoria was killed. I remember seeing her photo.

Thank you G00dnightJimBob

It’s just sad all round. So many young women with so much to live for.

I wonder how many more he killed and hasn’t been charged with.

WitchesIpswich · 02/02/2026 12:51

Yes, FuzzyWolf. Before this article I'd never thought about there being any 'more'. But I am now.

I'm glad her family will have a little closure now. Hopefully he will never be released.

I imagine the police have looked at all attacks on young women, in the Norfolk/Suffolk area in the years before.

Westfacing · 02/02/2026 12:59

Horrible man.

I remember the disgraceful BBC Lunchtime News at the time of some of the killings, reporting that 'bodies of two prostitutes' had been found by police.

He has an actual life sentence so he shouldn’t be released (although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything).

He worked on the QEII and joined the Merchant Navy, so it’s not just Norfolk or Suffolk he could have committed crimes.

I don't live in Ipswich but I remember the disappearance of Victoria Hall vividly as i think these things tend to stick in your head when they happen to someone of a similar age (as I was at the time).

I cannot imagine the pain her poor family have gone through and having nearly two decades of having to wonder if her killer will ever be brought to justice. I hope they are able to feel a degree of closure now.

HighStreetOtter · 02/02/2026 13:11

Would he really have had a 5 year gap between his first murder and the others? Hope the police are looking at those 5 years, sure they will be doing so.

Seriestwo · 02/02/2026 13:14

I hope he has a terrible time in prison.

Craftysue · 02/02/2026 13:18

I'm just relieved that he's pleaded guilty so her poor family don't have to sit through a trial. He's on a whole life tariff so will never be released. I wonder if he will now admit to the Ipswich murders and any other crimes he's committed.

WitchesIpswich · 02/02/2026 13:23

I know, HighStreetOtter. It's 7 years. 1999 & 2006.
