This is beyond a joke.

here

It's pretty poor that he was essentially deported for acting a little bit odd. Which as we all know, is now illegal, under the Acting A Bit Odd Act, of 2001.

Shocking.

IS there a thread about this somewhere else?

Strange story.

This: "As a condition of the settlement, he and his lawyers are not allowed to discuss its term or even the fact that it has been reached." is a bit creepy/family courtish

theSuburbanDryad · 10/06/2008 22:38

I suspect that's to stop media reporting about the chronic waste of taxpayer's money! And I also suspect that it was agreed by his lawyers because they didn't want it to go to the high court!

When my friend told me about it i pmsl! Not the most appropriate reaction, but i had to laugh. A guy from Bangladeshi, who has British citizenship, is deported to Pakistan, who then send him back again! It's insane!

I can se their thought process - Pakistan - Bangladesh - same continent - near enough.

They all look alike to Border Control, eh
It's like that 9 0'Clock news sketch, people arrested for having curly hair in a built up area..

I shouldn't but .. well and really

guffaw at "Which as we all know, is now illegal, under the Acting A Bit Odd Act, of 2001."

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/06/2008 22:49

WTF?

Threadwormm · 10/06/2008 22:49

And we're supposed to trust the British govt with the power to lock people up for 42 days. Sheesh.

This really was a horrifying story.

theSuburbanDryad · 10/06/2008 23:06

Yes, i know Threadwormm. No-one's even brought this up in connection with the 42 days thing, not on the news or in the meeja anyway.
