I’m just watching the news and there has been a mass shooting on Bondi beach, possibly targeting a Hanukkah celebration. Possibly three dead so far and multiple shooters. I’m just horrified, we don’t need this in Australia.

Not sure if there’s a thread because I haven’t seen one, but there was a shooting in Brown university last night as well.

Wonder if the timings are a coincidence or if they had the same motivations.

So, so sad for not just everyone involved but the wider impact on families and communities.

Truly horrifying.

Latest update is 9 dead and 16 in hospital.

The Guardian says 10 dead including some police officers. 16 transferred to hospital. Oh now it is 18 with probably more. God.

It's just unthinkable violence. The man who tackled the gunman needs all the bravery medals.

Unbelievable. The clip of the chap tackling the gunman is incredible, what a brave man. I know they’re saying it’s not proven yet that it was an attack targeting the Jewish celebration taking place, but it seems very likely. So the question then is how to tackle this. Really hope the gunman in critical condition survives and can be properly interrogated.

It’s been declared a terror incident and they’re investigating whether there’s a third offender.

I had hoped the bomb threat was some stupid prank or the like rather than a serious threat

Its not like there haven't been signs of this coming to us in Australia. These nuts have been emboldened by all the hand wringing over Gaza, we've closed the Harbour Bridge and Opera House to let people impotently march whilst yelling from the river to the sea. Our politicians have let this happen.
