newborn IVF twin girls abandoned at hospital because they're not boys.

shocking

"The husband then asked how soon it would be before his wife was fit enough to fly out again for further IVF in the hope of getting a boy to continue the
family name.".

They should bloody well have their passports taken away to prevent them flying out to have any further treatment. After they've been charged with abandonment that is.

59 & 72 ?!

They are old enough to know better.

I hope that they are prosecuted.

Total morons

lulumama · 29/05/2008 07:55

goodness me

seems a little off that if they were so so set on boys, that they did not pay for gender selection.

horrible story.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/05/2008 07:57

Shock Sad

struwellpeter · 29/05/2008 07:59

Unbelievable. No win situation for those little girls. People like that are so bigotted in their views that there is little hope of a real reconciliation with the parents. Would be interested to know if the mother really felt like that or was under pressure from father.

ladytophamhatt · 29/05/2008 08:00

Good god!!

QuintessentialShadows · 29/05/2008 08:03

I would not want any child raised by those horrible people. In a way it is good they abandoned the girls, they would never been able to raise them fairly and with love, with such bigotry.

LittleBella · 29/05/2008 08:03

Hmm, this is from the Sun and the only other report I can find on it by googling is quoting the Sun.

I think I'll hold fire on my disgust and indignation until the full story emerges from a more reliable source.

fymandbean · 29/05/2008 08:07

no doubt social services will intervene (one hopes!) and remove any children - what a bloody toxic set of parents!

why have them if thy are going to be abandoned, why not have an abortion?

Shoshe · 29/05/2008 08:15

it sis in the Exress as well.

Those poor children, I hope they are adopted by someone who will love and cherish them.

PinkChick · 29/05/2008 08:16

was just about to post this, how very very sad

MrsTittleMouse · 29/05/2008 08:21

It's in the Telegraph on line too. So not much chance of it being a hoax.
I'm surprised they didn't get an ultrasound scan to find out the sex and get an abortion. Isn't that how it's normally done?

umberella · 29/05/2008 08:23

what a couple of ignorant bastards.

poor wee girls.

LittleBella · 29/05/2008 08:24

LOL at the one comment in the Daily Express some idiot complaining about not having the right to break the speed limit. How they can relate that to this case ---

Imagine growing up knowing your sisters had been abandoned. No doubt the old gimmers will go off somewhere where they will be allowed to do IVF elsewhere. I cannot imagine anyone undergoing IVF and NOT choosing sex selection if they're so keen on having one sex. That's why I'm a bit sceptical about this story, I think there must be more to it.

By the way people, thousands of baby girls who haven't been conceived by IVF are abandoned every year, just because they are girls.

Upwind · 29/05/2008 08:24

I hope those idiots never get the son they want - at their advanced age they are unlikely to change their minds and any boys they manage to create would be raised to be bigots.

Surely adoption would be better for these little girls than abortion? I'd take them in!

fymandbean · 29/05/2008 08:25

I think the parents can be charged with abandonment can't they?? I hope so

Mind you some poor childless couple are going to get a lovely pair of newborn twins!

RubberDuck · 29/05/2008 08:26

MrsTittleMouse - I think some NHS authorities won't tell you the sex during a scan anymore for precisely this reason.

Those poor poor babies

Upwind · 29/05/2008 08:29

"I cannot imagine anyone undergoing IVF and NOT choosing sex selection..."

It depends whether you have a rational understanding of how sex is determined.

MrsTittleMouse · 29/05/2008 08:31

But you can still get private scans to find out the gender. Which is why the NHS refusing to tell you is so annoying. If you have the money to pay for an abortion and are that motivated, I'm sure that £100 for a private ultrasound scan is peanuts.

Imagine tracing your biological parents at 18 to find out that they had abandoned you like this.

fymandbean · 29/05/2008 08:32

yes but surely you can pay for a private scan if you can afford IVF....

There's something bizarre going on with this story

what kind of idiots

Pay for IVF what are we talking here £10k?
Don't bother with sex selection if it matters that much
Don't bother with a scan if it matters that much
Have babies and abandon them
Start again

its just mad

sweetbean · 29/05/2008 08:32

Dear God How shocking !!!!!

Upwind · 29/05/2008 08:36

It might make more sense if they believe that abortion is worse than abandonment. Or have some superstious reasons for thinking they would have boys.

laura032004 · 29/05/2008 08:36

What do you this bit in the Express is supposed to mean?

"An investigation by the BBC Asian Network last year revealed that between 1990 and 2005 almost 1,500 fewer girls were born to Indian mothers in England and Wales than would have been expected for that group."

LittleBella · 29/05/2008 08:36

Laura it means that they are aborting their girl children because they want boys.

LittleBella · 29/05/2008 08:38

But they're rational enough to go for IVF Upwind. It is really strange.

Upwind · 29/05/2008 08:39

Laura, perhaps that explains some of the late abortion figures
