because of this

this will affect him. sm is alway being rushed of to hospital and he is in his 80's. don't fancy their chances in getting her to worthing or portsmouth quickly.
gotta be the daftest decision considering how many old people live in the area.

Our hospital's had the same done to it - it's now a 20 min journey (in normal car, no Blues n Twos) to an A&E hospital (we have 2 to choose from).

My friend called an ambulance once for her DC - it came from 40 miles away, picked her up and took her to a hospital 10 miles away... she lives opposite a hospital with no A&E!!!

It is crazy. st richards covers a large area. and that area has loads of old people and is massivly busy in the summer,

I live near Chi too and am outraged by this decision. How could they deliberately not take journey times and the impact of tourism into account? And as for claiming that Worthing has deprived areas so their need is greater - what about Bognor? I think the most pertinent fact in all of this is that the entire panel ( except for one) making the decision live in Worthing. Clearly a biased decision. And whilst they are downgrading our hospital, the Government wants to land us with and Eco-town of 5000 houses - hardly joined up thinking.
The first death ( as there will be deaths as a result of this decision)should be laid squarely at the door of the PCT.
