This is so heartbreaking, he was only 28.

Beyond sad 😔 he was a young dad to 3 children and he got married last month. How heartbreaking for his family.
his brother died in the crash with him so his poor parents have lost two children today 💔

Exactly. Very sad indeed. 💔

Although I have never heard of him, this is terribly tragic. Those mountain roads in Spain are lethal.

Many years ago a darling friend of mine was killed on his honeymoon in Spain. Hé was modérately famous and it was all over the tabloïds . His family never recovered.

This has brought it all flooding back. May his family be left in place to griève.

DS is devastated and so are we. We spotted him on the cup parade bus a few short weeks ago. I cannot imagine what his family are going through. RIP both brothers YNWA

NHSinterviewupcoming · 03/07/2025 17:06

Absolutely devastated. I genuinely don’t know how I’ll watch football again

It absolutely could. Simple google will tell you this and unless you are an expert in automotive and automotive accidents leave the sanctimonious replies to another time. You don’t know what you are talking about nor do you have any details to comment.

I'm a Woves fan and DH is Liverpool - we are both absolutely gutted. What a loss. Oh their poor families, so awful for them.

Silverysnake · 03/07/2025 18:06

RIP. I thought his car would have alerted him to his tyres 🛞 not being in good condition?

ScratCat · 03/07/2025 19:16

A sad accident, but I can’t believe they devoted the first 15 minutes of the BBC evening news to this.

Why shouldn't they? Confused

Flomingho · 03/07/2025 19:47

So sad for his wife, children. His poor parents losing both children. 😢

Letsgodancing · 03/07/2025 19:48

Have been thinking about this all day, so so sad. His poor parents losing their children and both of them had got married recently too so their poor wives.
I just read they are holding the funeral tomorrow and I am sure in time there may be a memorial service or Liverpool FC will do a tribute to him but I just cannot imagine what the poor families are going though right now.

I just don’t think it should be the main news story, nor take up half of the program, overshadowing more important news. 🤷‍♀️

It’s sad and should’ve been reported, but I don’t think it was a lead story.

He was known and will be mourned by millions around the globe, apart from his family, there are lots of Liverpool fans around the world, there are many Wolves fans, the people of Portugal.
And so young, it's a devastating loss to those people.
If you don't want to watch it, and many do, maybe change channel.

Tiswa · 03/07/2025 20:22

@ScratCat for my DS and his friends this is huge - and the first real tragic death of a well known figure - similar for me to when River Phoenix died.

PlumpHobbit · 03/07/2025 21:56

Im a Manchester United fan, DH Liverpool, but sometimes things go beyond football rivalries

The pictures of him with his wife and children are especially poignant, his poor family going from such a happy day, to this

Plus of course his brothers family, and their parents, losing 2 sons

Obviously im a fan of his teams bitter rivals but im sure Liverpool will ensure his family is looked after and recieves support

No. If the tyre burst due to something sharp like a nail or a sudden burst it couldn’t do anything. Car only alerts if it is losing pressure.

chillibuns · 07/07/2025 19:25

I just can’t stop thinking about his family. His parents - both sons gone in awful circumstances. His wife - looking forward to a life together. His little kids who probably won’t remember him.
It’s just tragic.

ssd · 07/07/2025 19:26

Its really tragic and so so cruel.

chillibuns · 07/07/2025 19:51

Devastating. I wish I could put it out of my head.

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2025 20:01

Well I can confirm now that I’m the saddest I’ve ever been about somebody I don’t know dying, just can’t stop thinking about it, awful.

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2025 20:02

The thing that I keep thinking about is that I bet he’s so sad that he’s died, he really really didn’t want that to happen, strange I know but something that I keep thinking about…

Tiswa · 07/07/2025 20:17

I think with most people who die certainly in the public eye there is always some flaw but he genuinely seems like a really lovely person who has touched a lot of people - I haven’t seen so much grief from so many. He championed women’s sport as well.

I saw him play a couple of times as well and often watched interviews and he always came across so well
