Really sorry to do this, but wardrobe!

OK, Normally I listen/watch the news with the intention of finding out what's going on in hte world, what's going on with XYZ and so far so normal.

Today, BBC News at One, I looked up when it started and lost all sense of hearing. I saw a yellow square on top of a brown rectangle, all balanced precariously on a couple of half ovals, with a tiny circle on top.

I do not normally pay much attention to what the newsreaders are wearing, In fact I rarely look up to hte screen but listen. I wish I had. I missed every single word that poor woman said, such was the bizarreness of her wardrobe.

Who's in charge of Wardrobe for newsreaders at the BBC. There are so many actually talented wardrobe people working in fringe and little local shows who dearly love to dress at the BBC.

For a set of clothes to distract me so utterly from what is being announced it must be truly bizarre.

Apologies again for being so irrelevant to people being bombed to fuck etc.

And sorry for typos and missed words.

I read that newsreaders and weather people all wear their own clothes.

Maybe you have some kind of visual processing disorder?

TheOccupier · 27/05/2025 16:06

Your post makes no sense to me at all. Can you share a screenshot?

prh47bridge · 27/05/2025 16:36

This was today's newsreader. As another poster says, newsreaders provide their own clothes as do all presenters on the BBC.

I think she looks fine.

I agree, although I suspect the top looks a bit fluorescent on some TVs.

Yes but op is talking about another outfit.

Paperumbrella · 07/06/2025 15:10

What the fuck are you talking about?

TatteredAndTorn · 07/06/2025 15:54

Trendyname · 07/06/2025 15:08

Yes but op is talking about another outfit.

I don’t think she is. If so it’s a remarkably similar one.

Yes but op is talking about another outfit.

No, she is not. She said it was on the BBC News at One on 27th May. That is not a random picture of the same presenter. It is a screenshot of the start of that broadcast, so it shows exactly what OP is talking about.

They do.

My late DM once saw Angela Rippon buying a cardigan in Oxford Circus M&S. She wore it when she read the News on telly later the same day.😁

This reply sums it up 🙄

What a bizarre post.

TheBadLuckOfTeelaBrown · 07/06/2025 18:10

You have no idea how staid British newsreaders are in comparison to German ones. There is currently a thing for neon pink tops and bright red trousers. Later this evening I shall post some photos!
