I think she comes across quite well.

Shocking how politics/her husband/Alistair Campbell invaded her privacy when she was grieving about the miscarriage.

Please don't. Can't stand them. All of them.

hunkermunker · 12/05/2008 22:49

Two words...

contraceptive equipment

I have been trying to banish all sorts of rummaging images from my mind all day.

nancy75 · 12/05/2008 22:50

i think she is vile, and tbh i think the whole invaded her privacy thing is crap, i think cherie wears the trousers in that household.

emkana · 12/05/2008 22:50

tbh I couldn't see myself getting in the mood for sex while being under the same roof as the queen and god knows how many staff...

I'm sure Leo can read .

Imagine reading that at the age of 8 - you were an accident cos Mum was too embarrassed to pack whatever it is she uses/used.

nancy75 · 12/05/2008 22:51

i couldnt see myself getting in the mood for sex when sharing a bed with tony blair!

hunkermunker · 12/05/2008 22:52

I reckon her contraceptive equipment was a photo of Gordon Brown rogering John Prescott.

Yep, that'd work.

LaComtesse · 12/05/2008 22:53

I always thought when you stopped with Royalty or the so-called aristocracy, married couples were given separate rooms and not bunked in together. Evidently the Queen is saving her laundry bill....

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2008 20:08

I'm no fan of Cherie but I'm quite gripped by all the sordid details she's revealing and I really want to know what "contraceptive equipment" she had. The pill? Surely not at 43. The cap? Condoms? Why didn't she just say "contraceptives" then we wouldn't even want to know, it's the use of "equipement" that's so intriguing, it suggests EFFORT.

Oh just realised hunker said the same (welcome back! you can check out any time you want etc)

I'm not sure why she's being so scathing about her husband, it doesn't do him any favours the miscarriage stuff and the Kelly stuff, and she's not stupid enough to think it won't do him any damage so why publish such damning stuff? Bizarre. If that's loyalty to one's husband, blimey.

BrassicaNapusNapobrassica · 13/05/2008 22:00

I thought she was a Catholic - what sort of contraceptive equipment do the Catholic church allow these days?

I'm staggered at how it is apparently possible to be a socialist and be so money grabbing and money impressed.

frogs · 13/05/2008 22:02

I used to quite admire Cherie Blair in the early days, but the gloss has worn off for me.

Libby Purves has said all there is to be said, I think.

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2008 06:56

Oh thanks for that frogs, I like that Libby Purves piece.

fym · 14/05/2008 07:20

If you think leo was conceived for anything other than publicity/diversionary tactics.....

Lol at contraceptive equipment perhaps this or this neither would fit in a handbag.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/05/2008 18:08

lol @ the equipment - I agree Libby Purves ( as so often) hit the nail on the head.
What an odious woman CB is - I almost feel sorry for TB now.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/05/2008 18:09

BTW - surely there s not much room in a sponge bag for 'equipment'?

BrassicaNapusNapobrassica · 14/05/2008 19:04

Frogs - Thanks for posting that LP piece. It pretty much sums up my feelings for CB.

morningpaper · 14/05/2008 19:06

equipment does make it sound like it has several complicated pieces

What COULD she mean?

UniversallyChallenged · 14/05/2008 19:11

Was anyone surprised when she said Leo DID actually have MMR? I admit i assumed their silence was because he didnt have it as it obviously wasnt because it was a private thing as we all knew info about the kids anyway

constancereader · 14/05/2008 19:12

I can't believe how much she banged on about her privacy when Tony was pm (I quite saw her point) only to blow it all in a national newspaper after all. Too shy to pack a condom in her washbag in case the maid would see but happy to write about it for profit later on in the Times.

moondog · 14/05/2008 19:17

I did ask a while back what folk thought of these lot rushing out their memoirs barely two minutes after event. Whatever happened to a sense of decorum and perspective that only time gives? I always thought Cherie was alright but have gone right off her. Ewww, tmi, all of it.

Great piece in Torygraph yesterday comparing her to Prezza's wife.
Here
Like Hillary Clinton she makes the fatal error of assuming people are interested in her becaouse of who she is, rather than who she is married to.

Bravo Libby Purves.

I have never understood this mentality that we have to admire Cherie because she is a working mother with a degree. Respect has to do with the personality and deeds done rather than how much money the person earns.

Cherie has always been rather odious, a fine example of her greed is during a trip to Australia when visiting a shop to buy something for one of her kids. The shop-keeper kindly offered Cherie a freebie and she promptly went round the shop, filling her arms with £2000 worth of stock! The shop-keeper was understandably taken aback when interviewed, they didn't know of Cherie's belief in her own entitlement to expect everything for free.

No wonder she wandered into the Foster scandal, she wouldn't blink at someone offering to pay fees for her. Her entitlement you see.

Labour seems to be about greed and nothing more. I can't believe Michael Martin's wife got away with her taxi bills. Disgusting.

florencefosterjenkins · 14/05/2008 23:00

Libby Purves is spot-on. Cherie Blair/Booth/Whatever seems to have a staggering lack of self-awareness & her actions now & when Blair was in office are thrown into sharp relief by the way Sarah Brown conducts herself. Whatever you think of Gordon Brown it would be a hard person not to have the utmost respect for his wife. For Cherie to use the sorry tale of the death of David Kelly to bolster her memoirs & to show how good a man Tony is is disingenuous at best and utterly crass & insensitive at worst. Kelly's widow maintains a dignified silence even now but his brother has made his feelings plain. She should be ashamed of herself. Somehow I doubt it she is or ever will be.

chocchild · 15/05/2008 12:37

Apparently, Tony proposed while she was on her knees cleaning the loo!

suey2 · 15/05/2008 12:48

awful, awful woman. Banging on about 'someone having to pay the mortgage' to justify her lecture tours. This when they were living in 2 grace and favour properties. You don't HAVE to but a 3.2million pound property in connaught square, love. And all that stuff with carole caplin blleeuurrrgh!
