The first responsibility of any government in any country around the world is that of the protection and security of it's people. That is written in stone. People are not so reluctant to pay taxes if they think it is going to their protection.
Ms Reeves, Chancellor has just announced a loan to the Ukraine to provide protection and fight for their sovereignty. It has also been announced that in order to increase our protection, the budget to aid other countries must be cut for the present time.
There has been an outcry from some communities in UK against both ways to raise money to aid Ukraine.
There is little doubt that Russia has the capability of further invasion into Ukraine from Belarus and Georgia, and Russia has allies in other Baltic states. Russia also has control of the Black Sea coast of Ukraine and thereby Ukraine's export trade of grain and sunflower oil, which will affect the African countries who rely on that for food.
Men and women fought and died for freedom in the last war, and we honour them each November at the Cenotaph. If Hitler had won, the then British Empire would have been under his control. The people of those countries also fought and died bravely, not just for Britain, but for their own country.
All those brave lives lost surely not in vain? Is the government right to increase military spending at the present time?
