I don’t understand - what’s a treasury department system? How did they get access to it? What is the connection to the ousted top career official? What do you think is going on?

It's incredibly worrying that an individual with no authority other than through political favours has access to such information. There should be a huge range of checks and balances around this sort of financial sensitive information.

Amending back to 'LGB' and changing references to 'LGBT health' is a good thing. Practioners of what they called 'LGBT health' under Biden should be prosecuted.

re Science... expecting to suddenly stop pause & rewrite publications is a problem. No understanding of how scientific publication works and demanding that all submissions be paused regardless of stage it's at (so press releases may have gone out yesterday and suddenly the embargo has to move or tracking down all items just about to be uploaded to websites , etc.)

That's worrying. DD had access to PubMed publications for her degree, and is likely to need it for her postgraduate degree.

Yes it is. It's used so much in scientific research and will really cause problems.

People don’t understand/don’t care. It’s hard to understand some of this stuff and Trump focus on saying easy things.
It’s similar to the Brexit campaign in that way.
But this is worse…much much worse. I think we now know how easily the beginning of Handmaid’s Tale could happen.

We saw similar on a smaller scale last time with the handling of the National Parks Service who fought back as much as they could. But with Musk, Zuckerberg et al on side now the fight back is harder. None of these people are in it for anything other than making themselves even more impossibly rich. They can’t even spend all the money they have now.
