"It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, “Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.”

It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."

It's sad that a very unusual and different artistic person has died. David Lynch was a one off.

It sounds like he didn't have a great few last years with emphysema and fear of going out because of Covid.

Love this song by him:-

I was shocked when I heard the news. Daft, I know, but he's so unique and such a legend that I think had him down as somehow immortal. Wonderful man and film maker. A great loss.

His scenes as Gordon Cole - especially with Shelley in the diner - always make me smile. Nothing will ever beat Twin Peaks for me. He was a wonderfully weird genius.

I know. It’s really upsetting. I don’t usually get rattled by celeb deaths but this hit a nerve.
Somehow it feels like the death of freedom.

I remember watching Mulholland Drive when it came out as a teen and my mind being totally blown - it shifted my perception and led me to study art.

The documentary “David Lynch: The Art Life” is a great glimpse into his odd-ballness.

That's a beautiful tribute.

He seemed to have great relationships with the people he worked with. The Twin Peaks lot seem to be a funny little family of sorts - although several have passed now sadly. I loved their love for the show, the fans and each other. All seem to have so much love and respect for David. He always creates something special.

Celebrity deaths don’t usually get to me but this one has. It might sound like an exaggeration, but discovering his films really did change my life and expand my horizons. He truly was a one-off.

I agree, he was a unique and incredible creative, and seemed a kind and generous man too. I loved that documentary mentioned upthread. He was a massive influence on me in my late teens and onwards through all decades - from his quirky 'Angriest dog' comic strip, through Eraserhead and beyond, and his wonderful art in later life.
Ive felt really sad by his passing, but Im looking at the donut
