What do any of us gain from reading this? I wish people would stop sharing random news headlines on here.

BeamMeTheFuckUp · 09/01/2025 19:49

Please don’t compare them to animals. Animals would never do impose such cruelty on their children.

This isn't true though. The animal kingdom can be brutal and many species do inflict cruelty on their offspring and each other.

CellophaneFlower · 09/01/2025 19:51

I think the death penalty is a let off for people like this. Let them live and suffer for every second they have left, like that poor boy did.

You wish people wouldnt post news stories in the news section?

Tinaforshort · 09/01/2025 20:01

I’ve been following this story on TikTok it’s absolutely horrific. I’m not sure if the news article reported that the children had actually been removed from the parents care, but were placed in the care of the grandfather who lived with them!! Which makes absolutely no sense at all. These poor babies were let down by absolutely everyone.

I feel incidents like this are the result of a country which makes birth control and abortion expensive and in some cases illegal resulting in people in the worst positions having unwanted children. Compounded by lack of social care infrastructure to support or help the children. The joke that the religious right seems to care more about unborn children than living ones. Disgusting that the wealthiest country in the world allows this to happen

I agree. I think there will be more cases of child cruelty from this demographic, as more children are economic stressors and we know this is a very common reason behind mistreatment of children.

Nightmarewithdelirium · 09/01/2025 20:15

Extreme poverty and lack of social care.
Some parts of America are the real "third world" honestly.
Absolute no safety net to catch children growing up like this. Nothing would have been done for years if ever... had it not been for the car crash.
Apparently this is "freedom" from "communism"

myplace · 09/01/2025 20:24

She was 19 at the oldest when she became pregnant to a 37 year old. Had two babies in two years. The little girl was 2, the little boy 17 months, was it? So she was pregnant immediately.

OctopusSexArm · 09/01/2025 20:36

Fuck me I really really wish I hadn't read that.
Currently feeding my 3 month old, looking at her and thinking how the fuck can anyone do that to a baby.

As I get older I do actually think some people really just need to be put down.

Just fucking make them suffer the way that poor baby suffered. Just absolute evil.

Mumof2girls2121 · 09/01/2025 20:41

I truly wish I had not read this. My heart is so sad for this child.
who raises humans to behave like this.

BoiledOrRoastPotatoes · 09/01/2025 20:44

I can’t get my head round why someone would do something like this to a child. Something has to be really wrong in their brain.

Chimpanzees commit murder and I think they're one of only a few animals that do. Dolphins are another species that deliberately kill, seemingly for their own amusement. Lower animals only kill their young if they feel under threat, there's something wrong with an offspring or if resources are scarce.

People don't realise just how cruel some mothers can be. Women can be every bit as sadistic as men, although it's much more uncommon and a lot of it will get covered up.

Why is abortion anything to do with it? Mental health and social care being stretched is the root issue.

And sadly some events are unpredictable no matter what we do. And I say all this as someone who refused to have kids as I grew up in extreme violence and didn't want to play roulette by having children myself.

Yes unfortunately we have to accept and safeguard stringently for it rather than deny due to fear, it's awful to accept I know.

Interesting how the article focuses on the morher when the father was clearly the main perpetrator.

And what lies behind this has to be a lot worse than economic stress. You don't reduce economic stress by hanging babies from a rope. Sounds more like that man was a proper psychopath.

Well she is only one still left alive to face justice.

kate592 · 09/01/2025 20:54

Humans are mammals and as such are animals just like any other, what did people think, we're plants?
This is just a horrible, horrible abuse and murder. Those poor babies, a death sentence is too good.

It is poverty. Just type in "Alabama child death" into Google. You'll get hundreds of cases almost as horrific as this one.. lots where kids have just been left to fend for themselves and ended up dying or accidentally killing one another..
It's a really deprived area in parts.. high illiteracy rate... cycles of abuse. High rates of drug use.
This mother was 19, the father 37. Both probably been beaten as kids themselves, prbably thought beating was a form of discipline.. probably lots of substance misuse.
It's so entrenched.

HettysHandbag · 09/01/2025 21:00

As much as MN loves to berate America, there have been at least three similar stories of children going off the radar and disappearing (and eventually showing up dead) in this country in the past year. Do you not read the news?

Social services is a joke, ask any parent of a child with a disability or special needs in the UK.

And no, abortion rights has nothing to do with it. (Though again, abortion wasn't legal all over the UK until 2019). You can quite literally take an unwanted baby to a police station or fire department, or hospital and leave them there in the states. No questions asked. This was a just a simple case of a violent man doing violent things.

As for the mother, the fact that her FATHER was in the house with it all and that she'd had two babies in quick succession from being a teenager with a man old enough to be her father? I'd say that she was in the same place those babies were 20 years ago. I do think she's a victim and I'd wonder if she could leave or had any idea how to. It's like saying that fritzels daughter was responsible for her letting her children be held captive.

I wouldn't say it was interesting. I would say it was depressingly standard for the press!

“The death penalty is barbaric.”

”capital punishment makes us as bad as them”

”rehabilitation is possible”

“What about false convictions?”

Does the usual bullshit apply to this creature?

Put her fucking down.

I don't know. I think the way the death penalty is administered is generally humane, even if you disagree with the principle. In this case that might be a kindness that I am not sure she deserves.

I am slightly embarrased to say that part of me thinks just put her in prison with women who know what she did, and let her live in fear like her little boy did until the other inmates find a way to get to her and give her an idea of what it feels like to be beaten and have your body broken again, and again, and again, until one day it can't take any more. That's the fate she left her son to.

Someone will portray her as a victim wont they, under his control etc etc.

She had 2 children by him and should have been their protector

I wonder what was happening to the other child, she was older, why would only a younger child be abused? It does happen sometimes that one child is scapegoated and the other left alone but usually there is widespread abuse

Someone will portray her as a victim wont they, under his control etc etc.

Yep. It has already started. Soon it will be that she could do no wrong if she wasn't coerced. "Poor poor victim woman".

Bless your heart; You really don't know a lot of animals, do you? Animals are cruel. Humans are cruel. Nature is fucking cruel.
