As empty and bleak as when you read what that poor child went through?

No, of course not. The man is a monster. But, as the pp put it very well, celebrating violence doesn’t get us anywhere either.

The other prisoners were legally punishing him when he he slipped and fell several times onto the tuna can lid. The tuna was in brine, and the salty brine stung his his face and eyes which is why he repeatedly slipped onto the lid, and accidentally ran into their fists whilst they were helping him up.

Love this 🤣

LizzieSiddal · 03/01/2025 07:48

Well I’m glad this is getting publicity, as a pp said this kind of thing happens all the time in prisons but I’m not going to waste my time thinking of that evil bastard.
I’m thinking of Sara today and hoping those in positions of power to stop this happening to another child, are also thinking of her and are actually getting off their arses and doing their jobs properly so it doesn’t happen again.

wineandagoodbook · 03/01/2025 07:49

Lets hope he doesn't fight too hard

AlbertCamusflage · 03/01/2025 07:54

Prisons should be a safe place. It is inhumane to celebrate this sort of attack, whoever the victim is.

Shrinkingrose · 03/01/2025 07:54

Surprised at the few bleeding hearts acting surprised and saying this shouldn’t happen.

one man killing another man, is very different in most people’s eyes to torturing and killing a child. They do not see themselves as similar. And neither do most other people.

this was done by an improvised weapon. And will have been done by someone with nothing to lose, ie lifer.

I don’t blame the staff or take issue with it. It’s well known criminals mete out their own justice to child abusers/killers/rapists.

quite frankly I also hope he survives and spends every day of his life, in the sort of pain and fear he inflicted on that child. And I hope the other two get the same.

thats justice,

I think it's absolutely disgusting that prisoners are attacked and subject to assaults. I dislike the gleeful joy at this kind of thing. Prison should be above repute and a safe place without corruption.
And yes so should a child's home, two things can be true.
It's not just people 'we' think should be punished, inmates in for much lesser crimes are often assaulted - it's disgusting and a failure in a humane society.

This.

Exactly
If people looked out for each other more , less children would fall through the net.
Child line is excellent.

I agree, let him face his own kind now. He chose to be a murderer. He had a choice whether or not to inflict such horrific torture on that poor little girl. He chose torturing and killing her over being a decent loving father! He chose to do that, so now he’s where he belongs. He isn’t up against a poor innocent, defenceless child now, he’s up against his own kind who can dish out the same sort of punishments he gave to Sara! Maybe he should have thought about that before he did what he did!

Phase2 · 03/01/2025 08:05

Sorry to pick up on this particular post, it's a sentiment expressed by others. People seem to buy into this honour amongst thieves crap, as if there is some noble hierarchy in prisons where only the bad guys get beaten up. Prison assault isn't justifiable and it isn't meted out just to those 'we' think deserve it. Prison should be a safe place and that should not be up for change as some form of additional medieval punishment for those who commit other crimes.

Heronwatcher · 03/01/2025 08:07

Those of you gloating, you do realise that he’ll now sue the MOJ for probably extensive damages, which will come out of the taxpayers’ pockets? Not to mention the cost of his probably substantial medical care, rehabilitation and beefing up his security (I’d be flabbergasted if he wasn’t already on a wing for vulnerable prisoners already, and if he wasn’t in solitary confinement he will be now). Normal prison places cost us 50k a year per prisoner, god knows how much solitary confinement costs. And all of this money could being channelled into keeping the next Sara safe.

Plus if we want someone dead as a society better to have the balls to bring back the death sentence instead of relying on a fellow prisoner with a tuna tin lid, surely.

one man killing another man, is very different in most people’s eyes to torturing and killing a child. They do not see themselves as similar. And neither do most other people. I take it you know who they are and what they’ve been convicted of then? Did the daily mail publish that as well along with their frothing (and untrue) headline that he was fighting for his life?

In ten years time when he’s one of the ones participating in the beating of the latest person convicted of the most awful crime, will you be saying “good on him? Another child killer gets his just desserts”? Even if the person dishing out those “just desserts” is a child killer in his own right?

You see people are so fixated on who the subject of the violence was this time and what he’s done, that they fail to see that those committing the violence are almost certainly as bad as if not worse than him. But you can overlook their crimes of rape, murder, child abuse because they’ve given a child killer a kicking?

participating in this kind of violence is often how such inmates earn notoriety and acceptance. It will be the murderers and the rapists who are part of this, because as some have said, they have nothing to lose. But they have gained the admiration of the public who believe in vigilantism.

Edited to amend my last sentence.

Upstartled · 03/01/2025 08:18

So sad, too bad.

penelopelondon · 03/01/2025 08:21

Child abusers tend to be killed in prison so usually they get segregated in a separate unit, if said child abuser is famous it gets much much worse. Looks like this man is getting some of his own medicine.

user87349287657 · 03/01/2025 08:22

Shame they didn’t do a better job of it and save the tax payer feeding him for the next few decades.

Comments above about prisoners being victims of unfortunate childhoods are whats wrong with this world. There are many, many people that overcome a less than ideal start to life who don’t take their misfortune out on a defenceless child! He’s a monster not a victim of circumstance.

Except they don’t.

When was the last time you heard of a child abuser being killed in prison?

Yes they are often subject to violence, and the most notorious ones are reported in the press, but if you look back over the years there are people who have been convicted of the most awful crimes, and you don’t hear of those being murdered.

If anything many of these awful criminals are more likely to commit suicide than be killed by their fellow inmates. Fred West? Harold Shipman?

Gloriia · 03/01/2025 08:28

I have no sympathy for this man but it isn't up to violent convicts to dish out their kind of punishment. They aren't all good old burglars they will all be violent, horrible people. Please don't justify their behaviour as if they are caped crusaders.

As an aside I wonder how Sara's neighbours and extended family feel about their own failure to report this poor child's prolonged torture.

PeppyGreenFinch · 03/01/2025 08:32

ThatBliddyWoman · 03/01/2025 01:42

He abused someone vulnerable (i.e. a female and a child).

The shoe was on the other foot.

I am a therapist. I am empathic. I care about people.

I have absolutely zero sympathy for this man.I will not call him a monster-I actually think that's damaging in itself. These people aren't 'monsters'. They're humans. Humans do things like this and it needs to stop. I am glad that the men who did this to him have the backs of females and children. Of course they may have done terrible things themselves, but as someone who has counselled prisoners, generally speaking, harming females and/or children gets you ostracised at best in prison. And I am not worried about that. I see it as progressive and a good thing. Shoot me.

I am glad that the men who did this to him have the backs of females and children.

I doubt this, the men are likely rapists and abusers of women themselves.

I agree that many will be violent criminals who are just looking for a power trip and to make themselves look good.

However, Sara’s ‘father’ is with his own kind now. He’s basically been left in a cesspit full of other violent murderers to fight it out amongst themselves. The karma in all of this is the fact he is no longer now up against a helpless, defenceless, innocent child that he can freely torture and inflict pain upon. He is now up against his own kind. Which, if he’d been the caring, loving father he should have been in the first place, he wouldn’t be now in this situation. This is his first month of a 40 year sentence. Long may he be forever looking over his shoulder in fear of what will happen to him.

thats justice,

Is it justice?

A few years ago, all ok with you and many others if Andrew Malkinson, a convicted rapist, had been attacked and nearly killed then?

Funny how you re ok with lifers dishing out "justice" yet also say they themselves are at the receiving end of violence too.

If you believe in mob rule then say so, would save a fortune in Police and court processes.

Aside, i believe in the death penalty for people like Sharif but that should follow due process/appeals and independent review, not some violent lunatic dishing out your versions of justice.

The f*er deserved it
Those prisoners deserve a medal.
I hope something similar happens to Benash too.
Poor Sara, can you imagine the pain, the horror and the agony she went through?
She was just a little girl. No child deserves that treatment from anybody let alone her parents.
May Sara's dad and Benash rot in hell

Prisoners who include double murderers and rapists deserve a medal? Seriously?

Phase2 · 03/01/2025 08:38

I'm guessing this is ok as well? These kids probably deserved it?

"The annualised rate of assault incidents per 100 children and young people per year was 339.6 in the 3 months October to December 2023, a decrease of 10% compared to the same period last year.

The number of unique children and young people involved in incidents as assailants or fighters increased by 10% in the 3 months October to December 2023 compared to the same period last year, from 345 to 381."

Probably the staff deserved it too? Or is prison meant to be only safe for some people and not others?
