3 year old found wondering the street, but mother on her way to pick him up from nursery.

Awful. Poor woman, what a horrible thing to happen.

I know! You'd be absolutely livid!

I'd die of shock if that happened to me. Anything could have happened to him.

It reminds me of when that tragic 3 year old girl wandered out of her pre-school garden and drowned in a neighbouring pond. It only takes a second or quick turned back with toddlers.
TBH, 2 and 3 year olds sometimes wander out of the door at closing time at my pre-school (onto a main road) but generally someone yells or runs after them before they can get too far. I often worry about our car park next to the pre-school as it wouldn't be too hard to imagine a car reversing and something dreadful happening.
