How on earth could this happen? My son is 3 and goes to nursery and this has really upset and worried me. What worries me as well is seeing in that other story about that baby Genevieve who died in a swaddle that nursery workers are not surprised.

should I worry that my child is being mistreated at nursery? Is it really this common? I’ve never seen staff being unkind at my sons but I’m only there at times they’re expecting parents. 😢

It's a horrible story but very rare. The nursery clearly didn't have good safeguarding measures in place so if you're worried about your own nursery I'd talk to the manager about what checks are made for new employees and what measures are in place in terms of having children 1-1. I think staff turnover is important to consider with nursery choice. This man was relatively new to the nursery. The nursery my DC went to had staff who had been there and worked together for over a decade (and were all women).
