Here I don't personally think mthat 18 years is long enough but it is better than nothing. I was in Whitby on Saturday for Goth Weekend and I went to the ceremony for Sophie Lancaster and the unveiling of her bench. It was a beautiful ceremony and it brought a tear to many eyes.

RIP Sophie xx

Oh god, that was just so hideous, wasn't it?? What on earth is the matter with people that they go out and do such things? I agree, 18yrs isn't enough but at least they are behind bars.

"The injuries to both victims were so severe that paramedics could not tell which gender either was"

Piffle · 28/04/2008 16:37

truly horrific and senseless.

so glad they got life. just hope the never come out. evil b*

Jazzicatz · 28/04/2008 17:03

They are disgusting, ignorant fools who deserve a lot more than 18 years for what they have done. I remember my goth days avoiding certain places and people who would shout and physically attack me and my friends. I had hoped things have changed but obviously not

mumof2teenboys · 28/04/2008 18:05

At least some form of justice has been done.

It will never bring sophie back but hopefully these scum will never hurt someone else again.

All my thoughts and prayers are with sophie's parents and robert.

pagwatch · 28/04/2008 18:26

the thing about this case is its the second one in a couple of months where the attackers have been quite 'cocky' about whatthey have done and the police and victims family have reported the accuseds families laughing and joking in court.
What on earth is going on with parts of our society?

ravenAK · 28/04/2008 19:09

Hello again kayzisexpecting & youknownothing of the crunch!

The ceremony in Whitby was beautiful (ds keeps cropping up in the TV coverage of it...).

So pleased the judge gave these louts something approaching the sentence they deserve.

SorenLorensen · 28/04/2008 19:11

Oh, this was one of those news stories that really got to me - made me so very, very sad.

figroll · 28/04/2008 20:43

Very sad - she looked a lovely girl and with so much a head of her. I am sure her parents are devastated. Terrible story and I am so glad that the thugs that did this were put away for a good stretch. Only 15 and 16 years old (the animals that did it) - disgusting.

mshadowsisfab · 29/04/2008 08:40

Her mum was on the news hour(before gmtv) what a brave lady. she still works with young people.
feel so sad for the family. and sounds like the boyfreind is going through hell.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 08:51

Her boyfriend said on the news last night that he wished the doctors had switched of his life support machine when she died. It made me cry so much when he said that.
