Weird!

I live in Africa and there is still a massive belief in witchcraft so this story doesn't surprise me. I think when you have no money, no education and no way out it is probably easy to believe in weird things. Having said which, it isn't confined to such people. There have been tales about candidates for political office taking part in voo-doo ceremonies which involve human blood to enhance their chance of winning. Presumably such people are well educated yet they still believe in such things.
