The forceps delivery that resulted in baby's death case

it was my local maternity hospital I thought the names of the Mum & Dad were familiar . Surrey police have been trying to extradite him from Bosnia to face the GMC hearing but the authorities are not helping.

I am so shocked that in light of what happened (very clearly a mishandled delivery) that is has taken vitually 6 years for the hearing - I mean those poor parents having to wait all those years for the hearing. It's appalling.

Sadly our local hospital relies on many agency staff etc because they have virtually no nurse/dr accommodation, no money to provide it and the salaries do not make it possible to live in this areas - hospital not easily accessible by public transport - sort of in the middle of nowhere!

CarGirl, I read it. It was in the Surrey Herald. St Peters eh ? No surprise to me. Not good.

It just isn't a surprise there is it? I always booked for home delivery but never believed I would ever get it because they are always so short staffed!

The midwife who delivered dd2 was not good and made mistakes, I look back and wish I had formalised my coomplaint but they work in such appalling circumstances I couldn't hit them whilst down IYSWIM.

What happened? I had a forceps delivery, not nice. Next time I will try and have a homebirth I think. Some of the midwives weren't brilliant at my delivery either

A doctor used forceps when it wasn't ideal and he was presumably not experienced with forceps delivery. He didn't apply the forceps correctly and the baby died shortly after birth from head injuries due to excessive force. He has fled home - who knows perhaps he wasn't suitably qualified and no-one checked his references?

CarGirl, and not only that, but this mans previous partner had ALSO died in childbirth, at St Peters, although I am not sure it was the same Dr.
All bad. I bet as the story goes on, more discrepancies will arise.

I remember it at the time I knew friends of the father, I gave birth only a month later as well - ho hum!
