dying dog as art

My dd found out about this story today and is outraged. Does anyone know if it is true?
Some kids were paid to catch a stray dog. Poor dog was then tied up in an art gallery. It was then starved to death as people looked on over a period of a week. All in the name of Art. Barbaric .Makes my heart bleed.

I think this was all debunked as a hoax last week.

hippipotami · 20/04/2008 22:47

I was going to say what Maureen said, was just looking for the original thread, but can't find it.

Crossness, are you MaureenMLove, or a new / different Maureen?

smartiejake · 20/04/2008 22:57

Does anyone know the original thread? My dd is all ready to go into school with a petition for everyone to sign! She is convinced it is real but I don't want her to be made to look a fool (she has enough problems with bullies as it is!)

I got this as a petition email. Must say am not surprised that it was debunked as a hoax...I just deleted it. Annoys me that people make up these things and get people so worried.

expatinscotland · 20/04/2008 23:11

i fell for it .

smartiejake · 20/04/2008 23:17

So it's definitely a hoax?

This has to be a hoax. No art establishment would allow a dog to starve to death. Would it even be legal?

madamez · 20/04/2008 23:25

I wonder if the hoax was a piece of mischeif or an attempt to demonstrate how easy it is to get people all frothing with righteouness without engaging their brains.

ComeOVeneer · 20/04/2008 23:26

Snopes status is undetermined

smartiejake · 20/04/2008 23:28

Just looked into this further. Apparently the dog was fed and watered then released back onto the streets. It was a stunt to show the hippocracy of people who take notice of a stray starving dog in an art gallery but ignore them on the streets. Still rather a sick idea though. Shame they let the dog back on the streets though...

Oh, so this was supposed to have happened in Honduras? I cannot then comment on the legality as I have no idea.
