A woman was killed in Surrey this morning after getting her foot stuck on a crossing.

A man and a woman were killed by a train in Essex a couple of days ago.

Then there was the woman whose "Ugg boot got stuck" and whose boyfriend has now been charged over her death at a crossing a couple of weeks ago.

A woman was also killed recently at a station in Glasgow when she climbed down from the platform to retrieve her glasses from the line.

I don't remember hearing about so many similar incidents in such a short space of time before.

It's funny, but I've just been listening to "This day in 1968" 0n Radio 4 and they mentioned that 19 people that year so far had been killed on railway crossings. The programme is very 'snapshot' and I didn't quite get it all, just thought how remarkable it was
