As others who live in or around Southport will tell you. The biggest problem we have in Southport is pissed up white men coming from outside town for a night out.
As in many seaside towns.

But he never even made it as an MP. I find that really comforting - he aired his craziness and the public didn’t want it. Sure, a few thugs in certain parts of the country were cheering him, but like the Monster Raving Loony party it will never be concentrated enough to seize any serious power.

I agree but would add in the last government too. Scapegoating immigrants was a useful diversion tactic for them and Braverman went even further than that.

These thugs attacking a police station is even more proof of their stupidity. What exactly have the police done to contribute to the poor little girls who were murdered and others injured? This is about lawlessness and criminality not standing up for children.

They insult the memory of those poor little girls, trample over the feelings of their families and are holding the country to ransom.
I feel as if a lot of people will be affected by them this weekend, too frightened to go out, their property and homes vandalised, shopkeepers insurance invalidated by civil unrest, emergency services under appalling pressure.

I saw that thread and commented on it. Appalled that you have been threatened with suspension! It was a dogwhistling thread started by a racist OP. I have been appalled by the open racism on here lately. Posters saying they want to live in only white areas,posters defending rioters, posters speculating that the Southport murderer was radicalised by Islamists..... its been absolutely horrific.

And Thank God for that! I think Reform pose a far more serious threat having graduated from the true political fringes. My main concern is while the majority of the country will look on in scorn, if not dealt with correctly media coverage could inadvertently fuel this. I would suggest people stop referring to those involved as ‘protesters’ specifically.

I think there's a pent-up resentment at having less cash than is comfortable, sky high rents or mortgages, difficulties accessing the things they see others having on social media. Add in drink, drugs, a hot humid night, boredom, and some rabble rousing. Being persuaded that rents would be lower, everything would be easier etc if it wasn't for 'immigrants'.

Their anger is not all unreasonable but their scapegoating and their way of expressing it is. We need a year of the new govt resolving disputes, a year of falls in interest rates and inflation to calm things down.

I'm not making excuses for it but failure to understand people's anger would be a mistake.

So can I, but some is true. The Jewish man was treated appallingly and the police later apologised to him. But this is what happens. Things that are not true are recited alongside things that are true.

A young male with brown skin allegedly perpetrated the horrific murders in Southport and this means that in their world all people with brown skin are criminals. It's totally foul now, I used to love it, mainly followed authors, a few comedians,accounts about cats and gardening plus a few parody political accounts. Nobody I follow shows up in my notifications anymore, I have to do a search and yes, they are posting stuff but i don't get to see it. Then the other day I got a notification about a tweet put out by that idiot Lee Anderson, who I detest and would never follow because he is so unpleasant. The whole platform is heavily manipulated and there are so many shockingly racist accounts on there posting unspeakable things that I have given up with it

I will look forward to that. Have you seen the magnificent viral videos of two separate events at the Southport riots. The first one shows a man getting hit in the head by a brick thrown by his own lot of thugs, he turns to shout at them and another brick clobbers him in the balls! I think i have watched it 20 times. In the second one a yob is given multiple warnings to step back by a dog handling police officer. He refuses of course because he is big and tough and manly. Then the dog grabs him by the back of his shorts. Cue squealing of "police brutality" wonderful stuff
