another good one is when TO LET gets an I added to it.

Greensleeves · 10/04/2008 10:33

lol, 'lunt' is funnier than 'cunt' anyway

we had a German teacher called Mr Lund, every year we convinced the first years it meant 'camel shit' in swahili

now 'Gropecunt Lane' in Oxford, that's funny

TheFallenMadonna · 10/04/2008 10:33

I sniggered until I got to "Cockersand Abbey", when I laughed out loud.

UnquietDad · 10/04/2008 10:34

There is an even better one in Germany

OverMyDeadBody · 10/04/2008 10:38

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 10/04/2008 10:38

There's a new development near us with the street name Browny Knowe Place
we snigger every time.

marina · 10/04/2008 10:38

Ha, well we have Pratt's Bottom locally and don't need the assistance of vandals

Swedes · 10/04/2008 10:39

Not a place name but in Golders Green there is a direction sign "Finchley 2" and underneath someone has graffiti'd "to you 1.5"

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 10/04/2008 10:41

i don't get it

snooks · 10/04/2008 10:42

There is a place near where dh grew up called 'Lickey End'. Always good for a snigger.

Tickle · 10/04/2008 10:43

LOL Finchley

I grew up near Nether Wallop, and now we live near Odder in Denmark

Blandmum · 10/04/2008 10:45

Gropecunt lane is no longer in Oxford.

Turl St used to get graffitted on a regular basis though

fiodyl · 10/04/2008 10:45

a town near here is called Uckfield and its had an F graffitied infront of it for months

Joash · 10/04/2008 10:47

We have a Looe and a Flushing, and I've seen a 'tickle-me-trout'. Others around here are;
Brown Willy
Bush Down
Lickham Bottom
Arshaton Wood
Lower Piles
Crapstone
Burnt Bottom
Brown Willy
Piddlehinton
Dungy Head

UnquietDad · 10/04/2008 10:50

Isn't there a site where you can put in your postcode and be provided with a list of amusing names in your vicinity?

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 11:00

ya know, Gropecunt Lane became Grape Lane when the area got a bit more sophisticated.

Every area, every town.

So every Grape Lane used to be called Gropecunt Lane.

apparently.

And Cook Street was always Cock Street.

fiodyl · 10/04/2008 12:31

Joash youve got 2 Brown Willies there

Joash · 10/04/2008 12:38

I obviousy get flustered at the sight of a willy

witchandchips · 10/04/2008 12:38

bar at the LSE is called the beavors retreat (perhaps because of the density of beards on faces of aged professors drinking there)
