Dominic Cummings Covid evidence

Is anyone going to watch this man give evidence today?

Apparently there is a vigil in Barnard Castle ahead of this.

The shopping trolleys emoji seems to mean they think Carrie was controlling Boris from the last few days. Wonder if this will feature.

Simon Stevens tells the inquiry that in case of hospitals being overwhelmed

Matt Hancock "took the position that in this situation he, rather than say the medical profession or the public, should ultimately decide who should live and who should die"

This was terrifying, genuinely dystopian.

That government was properly dangerous!

Stop quoting me then.

And tough. I can post about my views if I want, stop policing the thread. The quote I put was from the inquiry Hmm

And obviously is relevant to 2020

If the damage to women and children is a low priority for you, then or now it’s not my issue.

If it’s in the inquiry it’s relevant.

It is not a low priority issue for me so Biscuit for that.

The inquiry is showing that it was a low priority for the government but somehow Eastern doesn't want to address that.

Your thread policing suggests otherwise.

My posts are highlighting the harms to women and children during the pandemic

As brought up by the HM at the inquiry

Will the PPE contracts get covered?

It isn't just that there was an international scramble, but UK asked pub landlords and lingerie manufacturers to supply it?

Have your own biscuit pack in return.

Not many of you were saying it at the time. In fact most put all effort in to shouting it down.

I believe PPE will be covered in Module 3, which is Impact of Covid-19 pandemic on healthcare systems in the 4 nations of the UK.

The Covid Inquiry is split into 5 Modules.

They have already done Module 1, which basically covered all the pre-pandemic planning etc. We heard from scientists and Matt Hancock.

There are currently going through Module 2, which is essentially covering what happened between Jan 2020 to 23 March 2020. What the government did during this time and why they made (or didn't make) the decision they did.

Module 3 will cover after the 23 March 2020 onwards. Some people will be back, probably Matt Hancock, Dominic Cummings, Boris, press secretaries etc.
They will be answering questions about why they made decisions they did while we were in lockdown, the problems the NHS suffered such as PPE and other medical treatment problems.

The quote from below is from the inquiry 🙄
Can roll your eyes but not address the point.
Camhs is well underfunded and not fit for purpose. Where is your outrage there?

Yes I can as you were wrong.

My anger is at those who dismissed the damage as it occurred.

Many on this site included. Worse still they (and you?) extensively posted to undermine and attack anyone bringing it up.

It’s too late now to be concerned, the damage is done.

Posters should have been more aware of that damage as it was happening.

MidnightOnceMore · 02/11/2023 11:57

Thanks @minou123

No worries. This is a very long inquiry.

It won't be finished until 2025!

They have split into 5 Modules, I think to break it down into easier chunks, because there are so many things to look at.

As I say, we are only on Module 2, which is only focusing on what happened before 23 March 2020.

Modules 3, 4, 5 will focus on:
▪︎ the NHS (the problems they faced not only dealing wuth covid patients, but how it impacted all the other "usual" treatments/surgeries etc. And what decisions were made to deal with the issues)
▪︎ Vaccine (we will find out all the details about the vaccine contracts. Personally I'm not looking forward to the whole "World beating vaccine" argument again)
▪︎ Procurement (this is all about the PPE contracts, but all the other medical contracts, medicine, ventilators etc)
▪︎ Care Homes (Matt Hancock will be in the hot seat for this one.)

MidnightOnceMore · 02/11/2023 12:17

I'd wager the people bothering to watch the inquiry were pretty concerned about all aspects of the whole shambles as it unfolded.

Randomly and repeatedly attacking strangers for imagined misdemeanors is not healthy behaviour.

🤷‍♂️ I experienced it.

I’d say people being so fearful of Covid that they ignored the harms to women and children to the extent recorded on this site wasn’t healthy behaviour.

It’s all there. Maybe you feel bad about ignoring those harms, maybe you don’t. Not my issue.

But yet you moan abide teachers and unions. As pp said a lot of teachers are woman. Schools don't ooen without teachers.

On another note I am recognising the KCs now also.

We all see what you were trying to do.

The only attacking seems to be from yourself.

Unions are not the answer to the priorities Save the Children raises.

As I said in pp the remit was not right. Which is why STC do not recommend it either.

There is a lot of focus on whether and how often Hancock lied.

It's a bit like that gun pointing at the end of Reservoir Dogs, isn't it - they're all blaming each other. No self reflection at all.

Helen MacNamara is part of the inquiry.

If you think she ‘has an agenda’ for women and children then tough.

At least someone is raising it, even if you want that part of the pandemic damage downplayed, god knows why.

So? They haven’t got it right either.

STC luckily will more likely feed into inquiry than that post.

*I can't be the only one confused by your response. It's like you have changed direction.

Just to clarify we all care about woman and children. The government didn't.*

Well clearly not as I was one of the few pointing out the harms at the time.

And no as evidenced by this site it was more concerned about pushing for harsher restrictions than the damage to women and children.

@Newtonianmechanics it might be easiest to just let it wash.

I'm personally interested in what is being discussed today and was glad to find your thread.
