Oh Jeez. I sincerely hope this goes to the European Court.

Novicecamper · 07/03/2008 20:37
Shock
Lulumama · 07/03/2008 20:38

oh my god

so being terrififed for your life and your safety you take off or allow your clothes to be removed by your assailant and therefore it is not rape

fryalot · 07/03/2008 20:39

"The judgment was likely to anger womens rights organisations"

no shit?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 20:39

i had to re - read it .... i could not believe what it was actually saying

OP posts:
yousaidit · 07/03/2008 20:39

Aaah, to be a woman. So that's why we should be barefoot and wearing crotchless panties: so it's easier to convince a judge it was rape? Now i geddit! And here's me thinking they were a naughty little fancy dress thing.

Botbot · 07/03/2008 20:40

Jesus fucking Christ. That sent a shiver down my spine.

IndigoMoon · 07/03/2008 20:40

that is just dreadful!!!!!

as you say she may have removed them but under severe duress and in fear!!!

WanderingTrolley · 07/03/2008 20:42

Ugh.

I take my jeans on and off without undoing them.

I wonder if men cannot be raped if they're wearing jeans....but then the sort of antedeluvian thinking of the article would have us believe men can't be raped, I suppose.

Again, ugh.

ecoworrier · 07/03/2008 20:43

Why is an article from 1999 in the 'in the news' section?

bran · 07/03/2008 20:43

This was nearly a decade ago, I remember it when it happened (but I can't remember the final outcome now). It's hardly news though, or even an indicator of a general trend. There always have been occasional bizarrely wrong judgements, and there probably always will be.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 20:44

ooooh

hmm wonder what linked it to bbc news page..anyone know the outcome?

OP posts:
Botbot · 07/03/2008 20:44

Ooops. Didn't see date. Anyone know what happened?

StaceyBranning · 07/03/2008 20:45

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!

PenelopePitstops · 07/03/2008 20:45

they can still have their faces forced into places

god this makes me so angry

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 20:47

will try to find update...still shocking though

OP posts:
MrsCurly · 07/03/2008 20:49

This is terrible, as you rightly say, but the "news" story is nearly ten years old. Do you have any updates? Did it go any further? It's astonishing if it didn't,

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 20:52

cannot find any update which leads me to believe it was not overruled by european court

OP posts:
Desiderata · 07/03/2008 20:52

Why have you brought up a news story that's ten years old?

Ten years ago, I had no child, no wrinkles, and no mobile phone or home computer.

A lot happens in ten years.

MarsLady · 07/03/2008 20:53

Cannot even begin to comment!

bossybritches · 07/03/2008 21:01

Paula are you doing cod's challenge too????

looks suspicious

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 07/03/2008 21:04

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 07/03/2008 21:04

What's all this I'm hearing about Cod's challenge????

Mrsjaffabiffa · 07/03/2008 21:04

amytheearwaxbanisher · 07/03/2008 21:15
