every tiem i see your name i think bananas

fingerwoman · 04/03/2008 23:05

haha excellent.

MaureenMLove · 04/03/2008 23:05

Fair play, I think, if they've been warned and choose to ignore. It cost me over £500 to have my drop kerb put in.

soapbox · 04/03/2008 23:07

cod!

DS obviously got in the swing of things (guffaw) he's been eating about 3 bananas a day - I swear the organic box co. think we've gone bananas

I agree with Maureen- we are going to pay to have adropped kerb put in to extend our driveway

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 23:08

hahahahahahahahaha
GOOD.
I wish they'd stick bollards up around here.

soapbox · 04/03/2008 23:09

ML, I know - but the shock of waking up and not being able to go anywhere! I think there is a valid point that was made in the Times this morning, which is that the bollards cost £600 per house to put in, and the drop curbs £500 - so the tax payer is paying more to teach them a lesson, than to put the drop curbs in for them

I don't get it, what's the big deal?

fingerwoman · 04/03/2008 23:11

well our dropped kerb is about to cost us £800.

the point is that if they did it for everyone it'd be a lot of money, even if it is "only" £500.
they don't have to do bollards for everyone though dfo they? only the few that refuse to pay for the dropped kerb to be put in and then ignore letters

fletchaaarr · 04/03/2008 23:11

QV - Meeja?

Thing is if they spend 600 doing a few of them the rest will pay up before it happens to them

And not a bad idea

MaureenMLove · 04/03/2008 23:12

Actually, I could do with some of those on the road outside my house, that I can put up and down, so that I could get on my damn drive, without having to ask the neighbours to move their sodding car!

MrsJackJohnson · 04/03/2008 23:13

they should do this in my street... 2 houses have done that.... great!!!!

soapbox · 04/03/2008 23:14

I also found the thing about driving over the curb funny. In huge swathes of SE London, you have to park on the pavement not on the road - and pavements with no drop curbs at that

Oh just a namechange after the spamming journo yesterday. Can't be arsed to change back.

Driveways are just so environmentally unfriendly though........

MrsJackJohnson · 04/03/2008 23:15

well by fucking lowering the kerb and painting a white line it implies that you cannot park there hence reducing the free parking space for the community!!!!

southwark counicl please react!!!!!!

fletchaaarr · 04/03/2008 23:29

ahhh - sorry ladies - I live in a culdisac in a village with fields behind me house don't y'know. My drive is offset by my really long hedge with all the birds

fletchaaarr · 04/03/2008 23:30

I missed the spamming journo

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 23:39

She spammed 27 or so threads with a message about her being a student journo wanting stories on how MN saved our lives. Her name was OliviaJournalist.

fletchaaarr · 04/03/2008 23:45

OH - I saw one of those.

Do you forgive me my drive then?

And how is DD and how are you coping with hearing news?

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 23:48

DD is fine. I'm 'okay'. It's not my place to feel bad about it. She's fine. Well, oblivious.

Walking home from school she has classmates calling out to her and she doesnt hear. I have to tell her she's being called. I dread to think what she might be missing at school, and, also, that people might think she is rude when she's just not hearing.

Anyway, parent-teacher evening tomorrow so I can go through things a bit more with the teacher (who probably hasnt been passed on the news)

VVVQVJournalist · 04/03/2008 23:48

ooh and how rude of me - thank you for asking
