Hideous.

But we recently went to a really cool gypsy music day for families which was the best fun I've had in ages.

Don't totally knock the idea, pre-children DH and I frequented Amsterdam. On one visit our friend took us to a night club that opened its doors at 12pm and we were so shocked, there were kids in the queue. On the ground floor was a creche supervised by qualified childminders. There were kids in ball pits, climbing frames, riding bikes etc, it looked great, a huge space. Their parents were on the floor above dancing and drinking (moderately I'm sure) as well as the DJ set there was a live band too and on the upper level was a resturant.
It was so bizarre leaving a few hours later and the sun was only just going down, we felt we'd been out 'all night'.
DH and I thought it was so innovative, trust the Dutch to be so 'cool' and 'realistic' about parenting. The place was packed.
At home we often crank up the RnB and the DrumNBass, the kids love it.

It sounds like the best bits from a holiday camp- no crap accomodation, bingo or annoyingly happy blue/red/whatever coats!

Callisto · 28/02/2008 16:09

Wasn't it at one of these things that some 'celebs' daughter picked up an E and had to be rushed to hospital? I think it was in the news recently.

That was Sadie Frost or one of that set at a private children's party that happened to be held in a club if I remember rightly. But, the risk is there if they are held in real nightclubs, you'd want to know the floors, loos etc. were cleaned very well before going there with children.
