I think that article is a bit crap tbh.

There has been and will always be lots of smacking debates on mn and to handpick a few quotes to support a point does not a case make.

I am sure OBM would be vrey pleased that all her eloquently anti-smacking posts were counted

The conclusion that if we, modern mothers , knew about more extreme, cruel or unusual forms of punishment we would change our opinions on smacking is frankly patronising, ill-considered and wrong.

Just because I am aware that some people humilate and batter their children doesn't mean I think it is acceptable to smack my own dcs. I also don't time-out or socially isolate or humilate them either as a punishment.
