Don't know why, I didn't know her, but feel so sad to read of Emily's passing. She was ITVs Health and Science editor, saw her so many times on TV during Covid and thought she was intelligent, vibrant and compassionate. Way too young.

I agree. So very sad

Just seen this on the ITN news. Very sad, she was only 45 and died of a short illness (lung cancer).

I was also so sad reading this, so young and she has two young children.

BeetyAxe · 27/05/2023 22:41

I had a wee cry for her there, for all she herself has lost, for the loss of her children and family. Heartbreaking and unfair. I don’t really watch the news but liked Emily when she was on. So very very sad.

This really touched me too when I heard. I also felt it would have been bigger news if the whole Phil/Holly thing wasn't going on. Surely the death of a publically known colleague is more important than the presenters of this morning!

I know this was a couple of days ago and I didn't see it on the TV news but I was so shocked to hear this awful news. I'm sure it was only a couple of weeks ago that she was last reporting on ITV news. how can this happen so quickly to someone so young. such awfully sad news. her poor family. RIP Emily 💐

ITN announced it on Saturday at the end of News at Ten. It was still very raw for Garaint Vincent. They said they will be paying a proper tribute to her on Tuesday (after the Bank Holiday).

Incredibly moving tribute to a wonderful journalist just shown at the end of the news. What love her colleagues clearly had for her.

I saw that. It was beautiful, she was obviously an amazing person. Still feel sad, think it's because she was on the TV a lot during Covid and I was watching the news regularly and she seemed so calm, knowledgeable and compassionate. And her hair struck a chord as it's similar to mine!

Bonkers beautiful hair! I also remember her from lockdown, so compassionate. Huge loss to the journalistic community
