Just saw an item about her and Macca's divorce hearing today. OF COURSE if you ask a lawyer, he/she will say Heather should have legal representation. They are not going to admit to being useless are they? Another comment about her was that she was limping. Well she does only have one leg!
And why is it on the news at all when the hearing is going to take all week, so there really is no news till the judgment is made.

I like the MacCartney ditties as much as any one but it's no reason to be so biassed against poor Heather after the sad break up of this marriage.

That's what they said about Mozart's tune to Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

mrsruffallo · 13/02/2008 14:53

But Mozart was 5!!!

Just because you don't like someone or something does not render their or its accomplishments invalid. Every artist does something that someone will find objectionable because taste is subjective.

Music that stands the test of time will be played again and again and again by successive generations and like it or not, PM's music will be played for generations to come(Yesterday, Hey Jude, Let it Be to name three!).

Bob Marley's Redemption Song resonates with the oppressed across the world and is a timeless classic as are many of his other songs.

That cannot be said about most of the artists today, including Mcfly!

mrsruffallo · 13/02/2008 15:40

Oh, I love Bob Marley, I will not argue with you about him.
And yes, taste is subjective. Just because you like someone does not mean they merit the label genius.
I don't believe just because certain music stands the test of time it is necessarily wonderful or worthy of respect.
In fact, I think when certain artists are around for a long time they seem to suddenly become well-respected even if they are crap-
Madonna for example

for mull of kintyre he should be forced to pay damages for crimes against ears...

"Just because you like someone does not mean they merit the label genius"

I use the term because his music was innovative and set the template that has been copied by so many. I have absolute confidence that 300 years from now that Lennon & McCartney will be revered in the same way that Mozart is now.

DforDiva · 13/02/2008 16:00

agree with YeahBut, HM seem to be bad one. I dont think PM is not saintly, whatever.
I~m sorry for little girl involved here. I think its been bitter divorce thru all media.
Im glad H|M so strong enough go thru all.

mrsruffallo, back now for a brief stint before I clear away the tea things. I love the Smiths because of Morrisseys voice, lyrics the whole thing really. They remind me of when I was younger and in that vibe, the look & imagery and because I was a bit of a miserable/emo kid it suited me.

People always say they are miserable, well yes but I was miserable too and their music cheered me up

mrsruffallo · 13/02/2008 18:07

Limara- I love the smiths too. I don't think they are miserable, I think Morrisey is a national treasure

Paul McCartney wrote some very good stuff for the Beatles, it is true. But his solo stuff has been unwaveringly sentimental and well, awful. Don't see why that can't be pointed out...

mrsruffallo · 13/02/2008 19:14

I have never met an avid PM fan before actually. Not even my mum, who preferred the Stones

ruty · 13/02/2008 20:08

[think your mum has good taste mrsruffalo..]

Elasticwoman · 13/02/2008 20:15

Paul MacCartney "played the same 4 chords" ...??? Aren't you mixing him up with the Sex Pistols, Custardo?

The Beatles developed pop music, including adventurous harmonies, in this country to an international export, and their music has been on the GCSE set works syllabus, as well as every major venue and several successful films. Not only has it been listened to by millions, but also re-worked by many other musicians in cover versions and orchestration.

It might not be your cup of tea, Custardo, but it must have something going for it.

I am not surprised that those of you who are younger than me (a 60s baby!) don't like the Beatles. I didn't like (popular) artists from several decades before my time when I was forming my own tastes, and later. What surprises me is that so many people do like pop music from well before their own era. Look at the popularity of the musical Mamma Mia, for instance, some 30 years after Abba's heyday.

ps agree with you Ruty, although haven't heard all that much of his post-Beatles music.

Heather Mills had never heard of the Beatles??

that is the funniest thing I have heard all day.

If she really said that, then 'fantasist weirdy loon' is an appropriate coining.

Paul M, well i can't say he's ever seriously pissed me off, seemed to live a quiet life till Heather came along.
