Just the media hyping something into something it isn't.
Which is terrible.

If you look at suicide statistics you might see that this isn't at all unusual.

Perhaps they just wanted something to get people hysterical about after the Maddy case ran out of breath.

14 sounds alot in one particular area but over a year, maybe you are right. I think the UK average as a whole is somewhere between 4 and 5 thousand a year.
