My goodness that teacher has her work cut out for her, especially if they are summer born boys.

It is very odd in terms of male births - but the teachers at the boys school my son started at aged 4 seemed to manage without anyone being especially shocked.
Bless Mrs T ! I wonder what she would make of people being astonished at a teacher having to cope with a room full of boys

In Dd2's class there was 3 girls last year! (including dd2) The other 17 were boys.

I did NCT AN classes with 7 other mums, we've lost touch with one, but the rest of us all had boys! The previous month's class all had girls! How weird is that!

I love teaching all boys - it's fab.
I do literacy intervention with yr7 students, and whenever possible I prefer to have single sex groups. I'm just finishing a slot with an all boys group (with many and compex SEN) and they have been absolutely fantastic.

my dd's class at school consists of 23 boys and 5 girls..

I would take exception to the reader's comment that states "My daughter Ella, was in a class of all boys for reception" No, she was the only girl in the class. Had the class been all boys, her daughter would have been a son.

I taught a Y2 class a couple of years ago with 18 boys and 4 girls. The 18 boys weren't a bit of bother, but the girls were a nightmare! Boys tend not to bear grudges with each other iI find - they fall out, may or may not have a bit of a punch up and then make up in seconds. When the girls quarrelled everyone had to know about it and suffer for days!

hifi · 05/02/2008 21:33

there seems to be a trend everywhere for huge amounts of boys. whats going on?

slim22 · 06/02/2008 00:31

Good point hifi......

notalone · 06/02/2008 15:32

Well all I can say is lucky girls when they get a bit older. They will literally have the pick of the bunch. Apparently Nottingham has a huge ratio of men to women but not as huge as Alaska. When I was single I told all my mates I was going to move to Alaska just for the rich pickings lol

hifi · 06/02/2008 16:39

ooh great loads of boys for me to choose for her.

branflake81 · 07/02/2008 15:33

When I was at primary school there was only 3 boys in my class, the rest were girls...

geekgirl · 07/02/2008 15:39

Why did they split the children into two classes in such a weird way? Why not have 8 girls in each class and 17 boys? Seems really odd.

SoupDragon · 07/02/2008 15:40

I think these boys make up the entire January intake.

geekgirl · 07/02/2008 15:44

ah, I see! Not used to January intakes here
