Story about a "Human Zoo" in Thailand and the women who aren't allowed to leave

here. The feeling is that the Government want the revenue from tourists going to see the women. IMO they are being treated terribly, and should be allowed to leave if they want. I would wonder though how others would view them. For example the one who wants to go to New Zealand, how would the New Zealnders treat her, would she come in for ridicule becasue of the style of her neck and the jewellery she wears around it?

Hm...it isn't right that they are kept "prisoners" so to say...
Not sure how they can deny them to leave?

As for Zember....I thought, that the neck muscles distrophy when women wear rings like that, and if taken off their necks could snap...but that must be an urban myth, I suppose...as she is obviously doing well.

As for how the women would be viewed elsewhere...probably no different as they are right now....people will look, as they do now...but other then that it shouldn't be a major issue, should it?

it doesn't really say how the rings effect the neck, it says they push the shoulders and ribs down to make the neck appear longer. The woman in the article says that the rings have caused her problems.

I could have gone to see them as a tourist in Thailand, but really didn't want to.

I think that there should be an international boycott of Thailand if they are not allowing these women to leave.

It is terrible that these women are not allowed to leave their country.
