Song/hymn?

The bbc have been using a song/hymn which I've heard a couple of times in their tributes to the Queen. I wondered if anyone had seen it and knew what it was? Sounds beautiful and I'd like to hear more of it. Thanks

Can you provide any links to footage? I'm pretty good on hymns but haven't been watching much.

Oh I tried to upload a clip of it but it’s not worked. I’ll try again

Any words? I know music but haven't been watching

I’ve heard Zadok the Priest being played quite a lot, is that it?

She had that at her coronation so it'd make sense if they're using that one now.

Not Zafron the priest. The part they use has no words. It’s quite sad sounding and really fits the mood

I've heard people mentioning 'Highland Cathedral', a piece of Scottish music whch was said to be a favourite of the Queen's. Could it be that?

Fladdermus · 11/09/2022 19:30

Is it the middle part of Nimrod? That's quite sad sounding.

I thought of Nimrod too, but I've watched quite a lot of the coverage and haven't heard it. Haven't seen everything, though!

No none of these sorry. I recorded it on my phone at 12.32. I’ve just scrolled through the bbc news special but it must be at the very start of the programme as an intro which isn’t included in their recording on sky. It’s got a bit of a a Nimrod sound but not it.

What about Dido's lament? Has me in tears every time.

Sorry OP but that made me laugh out loud!😅

Is this the music you're asking about? The last 45 seconds of the national proclamations programme before the news started. If so, I haven't got a clue, never heard it before.

The one after the national anthem? That's the Welsh national anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of my Fathers).

picklemewalnuts · 12/09/2022 08:11

I bet it was specially commissioned.

scissorsandsellotape · 12/09/2022 08:45

That is a lovely piece. Please come back and tell us?
