Could end in tears, but sure to be exciting...........

Not a Toon army fan as such but definitely strapped in!

Last time Keegan was in charge, Newcastle were everyone's favourite 2nd team.
So much fun to watch!
Even for the ladies - recall a certain Monsieur Ginola?

niceglasses · 17/01/2008 09:21

Certainment. Monsieur Ginola....very nice.

Feels good for now. My Dad is ecstatic. Theres a good feeling up here just now, but I always think Newcastle expect too much. At least it might be exciting football.....

that's one thing you're guaranteed with Keegan - excitement!

Not a toon fan myself, but like daddyJ, ready for the ride

saltire · 17/01/2008 09:24

All we need now is for the new scotland manager to be announced!

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 09:29

Sam Allardyce, saltire?

saltire · 17/01/2008 09:36

.
I said on another thread iw as secretly hoping Sir Alex would get a sudden fit of homesickness and decideds he wants the job. Just wishful thinking though.
I think Tommy Burns, George burley, Graeme Souness and Mark McGee are the choice of candidates

CissyCharlton · 17/01/2008 09:38

I was completely pissed off last night when, 4 nil down and minutes to go, Stoke scored a fantastic goal. Keegan and the Newcastle owner sat with their hands in their coats. They could've shown a bit of class and applauded thir opposition.

saltire · 17/01/2008 09:41

That's football though. I ahve seen fans of most some Scottish teams get up and walk out if the opposition dares to score a goal. Well it's 2 teams mainly that do it. Thought Gretna were going to draw with Rangers last night, but luckily for the commentators they didn't.
< my name is saltire and I am a gretna fan>

niceglasses · 17/01/2008 09:46

yeah I must admit you don't see many opposition managers cheering when the other side scores a goal......even if they are 4 up. Unfortunatley.

Not a Newcastle fan, but I am looking forward to watching them play now. Think they might end up on the reciving end of a few 4-3 defeats if Keegan's spell at City is anything of a marker.

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 09:57

hey perkin - are you a fellow Man City fan then?

PerkinWarbeck · 17/01/2008 09:59

Oh yes. 'Twas worth enduring last night's yawn-fest to glimpse a rare cup victory.

Although a trip to Bramhall Lance has MOTD Upset of the Day written all over it.....

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 10:01

oh god last night's match was dire! I kind of wished I'd washed my hair instead. Felt sorry for everyone who actually paid money to watch that!

But yeah, you're right, we won.

Was thinking of going to Sheffield but not sure dp will be too happy at having the kids for the day so I probably won't, and like you say, tis almost a guaranteed goodbye to the FA cup for another year so I think I'll just google the result instead

shabster · 17/01/2008 10:03

I shudder every time I see Keegan - Im a Man City fan have been for 40 years. We had a party at our house when he left City. Sam Alardyce was useless at Newcastle cause he dosen't have emotions like Keegan. Good luck to Newcastle - hope that Keegan does the business for you - I'm giddy that there are folk on mumsnet who like football - yeeeeaaaahhhhh

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 10:22

hey shabster, perkin... shall we set up a Mumsnet branch of the City supporters club?

shabster · 17/01/2008 10:24

oh yes (sound like the Churchill dog) blue moon you saw me standing alone!!!

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 10:27

Man City fan club

shabster · 17/01/2008 10:42

im a sad sod!! Really giddy now. xxxx 'maybe in another generation, when other lads have come to take our place' you have set me off now - singing all the old stuff. Think this behaviour I have is due to being on the menopausexxxxxxxxxx

MightySquonk · 17/01/2008 10:48

get yourself over to the new thread then - they're taking the mickey out of me

shabster · 17/01/2008 10:53

know i will sound thick now mightysquonk but how the hell do i do that? Never been on a computer till two weeks ago and dont understand any of this thread stuff!!!!!

DaDaDa · 17/01/2008 10:53

I'm a barcode It's utter madness of course! I just hope he still has the enthusiasm for it as he seemed really disillusioned by the time he left Citeh.

I still couldn't help getting excited when I heard the news yesterday though. Hopefully at least we'll start to pass the ball a bit now. I've hardly been able to bear watching the last 3 seasons (Souness, Roeder, Allardyce)

City fans, I thought he did a decent job (got you pronmoted and stable in Prem) for most of his time there didn't he? Until they stopped backing him with funds?

shabster · 17/01/2008 10:55

dont worry mightysquonk - i think ive found it - im getting headache now!!
