Superyacht that was on fire in Torquay

Why hasn't it been released who the yacht owner is? Hopefully a Russian oligarch.

I don't care who it belonged to - as long as nobody was hurt that's all that matters really. And of course that the authorities are able to contain the pollution from the wreck.

The reason for the fire is unexplained so I assume they can’t release the name of the owner until they can clear him or her of any involvement in the fire.

Why do you hope that?

It's an 85ft. yacht worth about 6 million. That doesn't really count as much more than a rowing machine to the likes of a Russian oligarch.

It's often hard to tell who the owner of these sorts of boats are, they tend to be registered to shell companies with the actual owner hidden behind paperwork, NDAs and GDPR. But the mail claim it's a local "Del boy type". for whatever that's worth.

Why would they need to release the name? What business is it if anyone else’s?

If it did belong to a Russian oligarch, I'm not sure that filling out the paperwork to claim on the insurance would be much of a problem for whichever member of their staff they got to do it.
