Another mass shooting why is still nothing being done it's mind blowing. Nobody should live in fear of sending your child to school. When all those students had a mass walkout in 2018 his answer was more guns and to arm the teachers really?

This man is speaking not only as a senator but also as a parent. Will it make a difference? Well it never has before. He talks the most sense of anyone. Why couldn't he stand for president at the last election. What's Biden doing?

It’s 19 children and 2 adults (plus the boy who shot them).

It’s a tragic mess and will keep happening until laws and the culture is changed in the US. That’s a massive ask though and consequently, I don’t think it will ever happen. Not in my lifetime.

BadWolf2022 · 25/05/2022 13:38

No it'll never make a difference. America will never ever learn. It's just a normal thing for them now.

MintJulia · 25/05/2022 13:49

It comes down to the fact that Americans value their right to bear automatic weapons (that have no use other than killing people) more than they do their own children.

Desperately sad but a national issue. As a Brit there is nothing I can do except stay well away, and keep my family away too.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 25/05/2022 13:50

It's absolutely sickening but nothing will change

toastofthetown · 25/05/2022 13:54

Nothing will change. People will send their thoughts and prayers and have a moment of silence, but do nothing to sort the root cause. This tweet sums it up perfectly.

In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.

SammyScrounge · 25/05/2022 14:36

I recall reading an article about gun control after Sandy Hook which claimed that a majority of Americans support tighter regulations Resistance comes from the Gun lobby and its bought and paid for senators.
It is called democeacy.

CorpseReviver · 25/05/2022 14:49

Absolutely utterly heartbreaking, I can't bear to see the faces of those poor children. Just wrenchingly awful.

Mraddison · 25/05/2022 14:53

Absolutely it’s really sickening

Hotchox · 25/05/2022 14:58

On the topic of the gun lobby, I saw a clip from a comedian (!!) on the stage at some event, talking to senators, where he pointed out the NRA only donates a handful of million to Senatorial campaigns. He then asked could we start a crowdfunder to outmatch their contributions in the name of saving lives, instead of taking them.

No one laughed.

LadyEloise1 · 26/05/2022 19:11

Why are the gun lobby so strong, so influential?

What did you think of Beto O' Rourke interrupting Ted Cruz and blaming him and his ilk for the lax gun laws in Texas ?
I don't know the ins and outs of US politics but I agreed with O'Rourke
