"Poor old George Bush. He certainly picked a good day to be travelling to the Middle East. All eyes in America were on who might be the next US president, rather than him."

Call me cynical, but I think that the White House knows exactly what they are doing and are just paying lip service to something in the last year of presidency.

very interesting.

Maybe he's like Tony Blair and Northern Ireland , wants to be in history for a big settlement.

SueBaroo · 10/01/2008 18:46

Erm, yes, I'm sure he did. And? The thread title makes him sound like a Bond villain.

ILiveinhope · 10/01/2008 18:54

I didn't the title to sound like that, but I am wondering about his intentions on this. He has been in office for 7 years and this is his first visit. And he chooses it to be on the same day as the New Hampshire primaries.

To me it looks like a way to say "I tried, but nobody would listen". And it feels totally disingenuous

SueB, I think my title tried to say (unsuccesfully), that the media is not giving this decent coverage, and this was preplanned by GW's advisors, in a way to butter up Israel but actually make no differece at all.

IliveinHope, I just presume that all these things work on those lines - Bush or no Bush. But then I'm by turns cynical and far too charitable.
