is he even divorceed from the fragrant wife yet? what a load of old bolleaux.non?

expatinscotland · 08/01/2008 23:02

she's a bit skanky, IMO.

Brangelina · 08/01/2008 23:03

Well she's a bit strange imo (I've never seen her smile) and he's taking the piss a bit, going on official visits to countries with her in tow as his official escort. Diplomatically that's a big no no, especially in the more religious countries.

Earlybird · 08/01/2008 23:03

Understand his popularity rating has dropped dramatically recently with speculation that it's due to the public reaction to the romance. Does seem rather impulsive to be talking marriage when he was supposedly devastated in the fall when his marriage ended.

Brangelina · 08/01/2008 23:04

And what does she see in him? He's totally unshaggable imo. Must be the power.

Earlybird · 08/01/2008 23:05

Her Mum has been giving interviews...or at least is quoted in the press about the relationship.

Piffle · 08/01/2008 23:05

they met in November
My ARSE they did, been going on for ages

ruty · 09/01/2008 09:10

it could only happen in France. A scandal anywhere else. Quite funny. Bruni has always liked crabby old men hasn't she?

Anna8888 · 09/01/2008 09:14

Cécilia and Nicolas Sarkozy were divorced this autumn. She is getting married to her long term lover Richard Attia this February - as, apparently, are Nicolas and Carla Bruni.

They could do much worse than one another IMO - quite well suited.

ruty · 09/01/2008 09:33

they obviously just stayed together to get Sarkozy elected...

Anna8888 · 09/01/2008 09:47

Ruty - understandably.

Ségolène Royal and François Hollande also carried on pretending they were still an item while she waged her election campaign.

Not a terrible crime to my mind.

Hilary Clinton? Now THAT would be scandalous.

Sprogger - Nicolas Sarkozy is hardly any better than Carla - he officiated as Mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine to Cécilia's marriage to Jacques Martin and then, once she had had two children (and Nicolas had got married and had two children on his side), got caught by Jacques Martin with Cécilia in the Cecilia-Jacques marital bed.

Anna888- you are a regular fount of info. Is it true that french press are bound by rules/practice that they don't tend to report this kind of thing in the same way that you would here (look at how much the english press revelled in the David Blunkett affaires).

Anna8888 · 10/01/2008 21:58

poppy34 - yes. The privacy laws are greater in France.

Lots of scandal goes unreported - things that are common knowledge among journalists and in Parisian society just don't make the papers.
