I don't know much about specific charities in the country, but I know Save the Children has been there, because there were children in need there before Russia started with the threats and now the attack

I don't know whether this charity is involved in Ukraine (yet) but if your aim is to support children whose lives are disrupted by war in any country, try

I’ve donated to B Strong. It’s Bethenny Frankels charity and she manages to get practical things shipped out and feet on the ground extremely quick.

Have just been on B strong website, they have sent out a plane which is arriving in Poland tomorrow with a significant amount of aid, I'm donating soon as l can.

I saw on her stories they are sending out an initial 10 million dollars worth of aid/survival kits/hygiene kits/sleeping bags etc.

Trying to figure out where is best to donate. Red Cross? Will have a look at some of these links. I don't have much money but I will sacrifice something to help

Excellent idea for a thread.
I’ll do some googling on the suggestions here and in The Independent.
I look for not or profit and also organisations that provide material on the ground resources and help, not just lobbying.
There is huge scope for money to be misappropriated now as we all scramble to donate in an unfamiliar landscape.

Great idea for a thread. I want to donate but want to make sure it goes to the right place, and I know there are unscrupulous people who exploit times like this

Agree, was looking earlier. Have half a dozen different agencies appear on my fb timeline.

DEC will surely do an appeal? They always seem like a safe bet to me

With refugees crossing into Poland, the Polish Red Cross is a good idea. This page is in Polish but we all know how to click to translate, right? Scroll down for bank transfer details.

The Ukrainian Red Cross appeal is here and uses credit cards:

Caritas Polska is a Roman Catholic relief organisation:

No idea if this Twitter link will work but you can see exactly where your money is going through the B Strong charity. Every penny goes to the cause and you can see it in a tangible way.

I can’t afford much either, but its easier when you feel like it’s going direct to Ukraine.

At last a sensible Ukraine post. We've sent money to donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal.
I'm fed up with the #istandwithukraine virtue signalling posts across Facebook, and want to see more practical help by way of donations.

@MMBaranova donations to Poland sounds sensible too. Let's hope world powers or at least European countries send aid there.

I’ve donated to donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal - the funds go to the Ukrainian Red Cross and International Committee of the Red Cross

I donated to the Red Cross and to the association of Ukrainians in Great Britain too. It isn't much but it's something.
