I am still seething after watching it, how can it still be happening in 2004? If you have a minute or two, could you email the FIFA and UEFA websites

You don't need to write very much - just give the email a subject like Racist Chanting - they probably won't read them but if they see enough people are angry, it might prompt them into doing more than a paultry little fine in 3 weeks time that has no effect on anyone or anything.

Thanks Cha. I have mailed them and put a link into another thread which was talking about this appalling display but didn't have a relevant title!

Just got an automated reply from the fifa address, so it is working. Probably being bombarded

Cha · 19/11/2004 15:24

This is what I sent to both of them today
If you agree, maybe you could email it to them as well...??

A suggestion (which no doubt will be ignored)

As soon as racist chanting becomes audible enough to all, there should be a tannoy/tv screen warning followed by a halt in play of 10 minutes or so. If it starts up again, the game is stopped and the team who is responsible for the racists automatically loses the game. This should become policy for all European matches.

those emails again are

And cheers everyone who's done this. Probably will have no effect but makes me feel better anyway.

I got a bounce from Fifa too (yesterday). Will try again.

what i found difficult to understand was the fact that they repeated it on all the news channels, with the volume turned up when the chanting started, iykwim. there was no need.
