Total scum. I hope they rot in hell. Numerous missed opportunities yet again but I suspect ‘lessons will be learned’.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/12/2021 21:55

Those lessons will be learned but as a retired child protection social worker I can tell you parents will lie, hide, manipulate and mange to pull the wool over eyes. Social workers can't just go into peoples houses and search them. They are not front line workers like police and ambulance services. It is an impossible situation. What I can tell you is that for one child who dies there are hundreds more who are protected. Some will always fall through the net. It's a hard lesson to learn and for me it was difficult to live with and so I left. I only have respect for my colleagues who are dealing with this every day.

Apolloanddaphne..my experience with social workers when I was teaching was that some are too young for the job. I had 18 year olds doing Social work degrees. I felt the mature students had more life experience. Some cases would need very skilful handling. Poor little Star. How cruel some people are.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/12/2021 22:02

I was a mature student.

@ApolloandDaphne im sorry but having seen the bruising on that childs face there is no way anyone would have been able to convince me that was accidental! Im ex frontline medical staff and I don't need my qualifications to see that wasn't normal childhood bumps and bruises.

I’ve seen many threads in here over the years (been on since the beginning) asking how people feel about the death penalty. This is the closest I’ve come to thinking hell, yes.

Mistressofnone · 14/12/2021 22:41

I'm just horrified by what I've seen on the news over the last few weeks involving beautiful innocent children and their evil parents/partners. Peace and safety now baby Star.

In the Court reporting , the Jury was shown the video of SB and Star , where the CCTV showed a 3 hour time period of SB slapping , punching and pushing Star . Then Star fallling out of the car .
They showed the Jury in slow motion , so they had to witness the full impact of the ordeal this poor little girl went through .

There were something in excess of 20 blows .

I thought "Right explain that "

And she did . She was so bloody convincing in the Court transcript . They didn't seem to queston her "Now you know that's a full on, full force punch there "

Star was resisting eating
Star was standing behind the seat not sleeping (on the special inflaeable car mattress SB had bought her to sleep safely )
Star was laughing as she (SB) did The Claw .
She even explained the fall and the blood on the seats (that even her professional valet didn't eradicate) IIRC she blamed one of the puppies for a nip .
She had taken Star because her useless mother was wanting to go out on the piss and said if she couldn't get a babysitter she'd leave her alone .

Obviously the Jury didn't take her word for it in the summomg up .
But she was convincing .
And could likely convince a Dr or SW ?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/12/2021 17:59

Oh and her answers were "If I'd hit her she'd have been seriously injured or dead"
As SB was a security guard/bouncer/boxer , she said she couldn't have slapped/punched Star as basically she'd have caused fatal blows .

Which obviously was the ultimate event but there were traumas /injuries caused at this event from the photos when she went home
