I've noticed that foods that used to often be on special offer aren't any more.

I've recently moved to Belgium and have found that some food appears to be cheaper than in the UK (fresh veg + meat) and tastes a lot better.
Found when we were back in the UK everything was getting more pricey which is part of the reason why we moved.

We do a lot of cooking from scratch and I have noticed that regular staples, particularly Fresh Orange Juice, tinned tomatoes and plain flour have increased quite steeply in price.

I noticed that this was the same across many supermarkets, so I don't think it's just down to Tesco

XAliceInWonderlandX · 17/12/2007 16:49

i also cook lots too

it is the bakery goods that are silly prices here

and we had no floods!!

michie, thats true of every other country in europe as ime!
thats one (small) reason why I dont want to go back.

The costs of particular foods do change relative to others over time - so a meal your mother thought was cheap can become relatively more expensive, and vice versa.
