A work colleague of mine was related to the Mitfords and named his daughter after Unity, which I thought was slightly odd, considering her history.

Even if it were true, what possible good could come from investigating it any further, and discovering the child (if he exists)? This isn't ancient history, but within living memory and if true would affect a family in such a horrible way. Let sleeping dogs lie, I say.

The letters book is fascinating. I really enjoyed it, having read
the Jessica Mitford letters last year.
I think they were pretty horrid to Jessica once she went off with Esmond Romilly. Rather ganged up on her. And Nancy was pure vitriol behind the other's backs. Very two-faced.

I have bought my youngest sis the Mitford letters book for christmas in the hope that I can borrow it when she has read it.

The general consensus has always been that Hitler was incapable of ordinary sexual relations with women. Most of his close cohorts were homosexual, although there's no evidence that he was gay/bi or hetero. He was, by all accounts, celibate .. whether by choice or design no one is quite sure.

He had a bizarre relationship with his niece, Gelli, which people widely thought to be incestuous, but in her own words, he didn't lay a finger on her directly.

I often wonder how much of the Hitler reportage is true and how much was propaganda. We will probably never know.
