read it today-truly amazing

Mail article

It is a stunning story, but not surprising - I read another one this week about "kangaroo care" keeping a very prem baby alive, and I remember long ago reading Susan Hill's book Family where her desperately prem daughter (who eventually died ) would always rally when all seemed to be lost if she was lifted from her incubator and held by her mother.

I know they do need medical intervention at certain points but I think the professionals go overboard sometimes when all they really need is their mum.

lovely, but scary too!!!

BBC on kangaroo care, 1998

at least as effective as incubator care - it's often better!

History (created in 1978 in Colombia)

I wonder if this latest case might be taken as a reason to use it more in the UK. It's so logical!

I know a Brasilian man who was born really early and really small. His mother rejected him so his granny got him and kept him in her bosom for weeks and weeks and he survived (and is an academic now).
And another who was kept in the oven! Obv this was quite some time ago...He would be late seventies now
