Apparently the latest development is that one of the huffy sons seems to have hightailed it to City airport after clearing out his flat

What i don't get is they were not in a terrible financial situation before all this.They had a portfolio of property.The sons were doing well.I mean if it was all going belly up and the situation was desperate I could almost understand them pulling a fast one.
It seems to have been motivated by sheer greed.And I think ann was the one driving it.

I know this is a bit nit picky, but something really annoys me about this reporting (and The Guardian isn't alone on this).

What is the relevance of "single mother"? It seems to me to say that EVEN a single mother can put the police to shame, hence implying that single mother are not very bright because even they can outsmart those clever police.

What does being single or being a mother have to do with her blowing the gaff on these fraudsters?

you're right, Gloria, and I bet when the Mirror get hold of that bit of the story, they will say something along the lines of... "single mother, 25, struggling on meagre benefits, who not only had all of her details lost by the inland revenue, but had the resourcefulness to put police bosses to shame..."

when all we need to know is: "Police should have googled"
